He said its based out of a movie about rum running. The Purple Kitten... well its a fitting name for a ship that holds my pre-nerf reward enigne and a lvl 8 weapon system with a very fast refire rate.
hey jupa, thanks for the credit, but I didn't say it was from a movie, I said the old rum runners from alberta and saskatchewan used the "hudson" cars to outrun the cops, cause they were the fastest cars available and were heavy enough they could bust through a road block. Although there is a movie by the same name, it has to do with a thief, starring Bruce Willis...I don't recommend watching it though
BTW the movie title Hudson Hawk refers to a wind condition coming off the Hudson Bay. I also do not reccomend watching it... it is one of those Bruce Willis "TooCoolForTheScriptTestamentToMyEgo" flicks.

Laffite wrote:It hates spaces...most of the time. I wanted my YT-1300 named "The Nightjade" but I had to settle for the lame underscore "The_Nightjade". However my 2 other ships "Saucy Nuna" and "Saucy Chuba" both accepted the spaces. I found it odd that if it was preceded by a "The" it wouldnt take the space, hence it took "Saucy Chuba" but not "The Saucy Chuba"
All (and Lafifite),
Please note that a proper ship name does not start with the word "the". This is not intended to flame anyone, I am simply trying to share some RL information which is appropriate in-game.
For example, the name of Han's ship is "Millenium Falcon." Please note that it is not "The Millenium Falcon." In real life, the ship's name is "Queen Mary" not "The Queen Mary." In a sentence, we use the modifier "the" only as a function of proper grammar and sentence structure. Use of "the" in the sentence indicates we are referring to a specific vessel with that specific name in a third-person manner. In other words, one should not include "the" as part of the official name...except in cases such as "Explorer of the Seas".
In Laffite's case, the proper name for his ship (nautically speaking) would be "Nightjade" (not The Nightjade)and that is what would appear on any paperwork or documentation...as well as what he would paint on the hull.
I know this may sound a bit odd, but this is historically proven...I learned it myself during the time I spent as both a Naval Officer and an engineer in the merchant marine. If you find this hard to swallow, a simple way to grasp this is to find pictures of ships or even visit a port if you live near the sea. A ship's name is always painted across the stern (back) and on larger ships painted on either bow (front sides). I guarantee you will not find a single vessel who's name starts with "The"...except in America where some individuals who are ignorant of nautical tradition name their 12' (4m) pleasure boat "The Blue Moon" instead of the proper "Blue Moon"
I sincerely hope this insight is beneficial to everyone. Again, I am not flaming anyone who chooses to start their ship's name with "the", but I hope that some of you will choose to follow (or at least appreciate) centuries of RL nautical tradition when naming your ship's in-game

Also the word "the" is not allowed due to the name filter.
