If they want their weapon sliced, there is no reason they shouldn't be part of the search/crackdown. If non-smugglers don't want to be involved - don't buy sliced items. Otherwise, there is no risk and it ruins the atmosphere.

As far as consequences go, those players willing to become Bh, Smuggler, or Jedi should be able to accept that their chosen careers come with an elevated danger level. I am currently grinding smuggler/commando/CM4XXX. When I start my role in smuggling either contraband goods/weapons/spice, I expect raids, patrols, scans, checkpoints, and blockades. How else am I supposed to feel a hightened sense of danger with a criminal activity? That's why we chose to be smugglers in the first place. Also, the integration of the smuggling proffession with spacetravel is a must.Smugglers with a certain amount of prestige pilot points should be able to start "mass reduction" by trimming starship components. ONLY master smugglers with master pilot certtification could do this. Imp pilots who hire smugglers to trim their TIE variant ship components could possibly be subject to reprimand (loss of faction points). Rebswould need extra missions after master to get permission from their superiors to use sliced equipment. Privateers would have the option once they reached master.
Another way to improve the smuggler proffession and to boost the sense of fun and dangerwould be for the Imps to finally break down and oppress the people of the galaxy. Considering the importance of Dantooine to jedi (and everyone else) why not have Star Destroyers and squadrons of TIEs blockade the planet?Public transportation would be cut off and onlyranking IMPs, capable smugglers orVERY capable pilots would be able to break through.

Why is this even being bumped? GM no longer works at SOE and his vision for smuggler,sadly, will never see the light of day.

Yes! I accept that. That's means content. We have no content, so there's no reason to have a danger level. I would be more than willing to have the consequence of getting tracked and killed, or running in to blockades. At least if that happened, it would mean we have content.

Tell me... After the CU, and the changes to Concussion Shot, is there any Master Smugglerhere who doesn't think they could take ona MBH head to head, and not be able to at least get away? To live another day? That discussion was big a while ago, but I really don't think people can argue that it would be very hard to get away... Think about it... We have Concussion Shot, and Panic Shot. If they root us, the most it will be is for twenty seconds. We can still fire back though, so its just a matter of putting Panic Shot on them, waiting for the root to go out, then Concussion Shot them for 40 seconds of free time, run over, hug them, then get on your speeder and on your way! We also have feign death, if you're lazy, and if they get you real hurt, you can use the bane of jedi, the move they fear most, the dreaded "I win button" and knock them on their ass. I really think you would have to try hard to not get away.

im not sure if that has been brought up before but i think it would be cool if you get these smuggler missions from actual npc's instead of smuggler mission terminals. You would be able to get them from various crime lords, such as jabba, prince xizor, and so on.
