yeah, as far as we know it's 'own the way' about like it was on the way for before. Seem to recall they said they'd started detailed designat least once in the pastalso.
Seriously, I'm really happy for all of you that can so blithely gaze into the sun of never-failing faith but you really have NO evidence THIS time is going to be any different than the other times.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me a few more times after that shame on me.

i gave up master smug so I could master shipwright, but i'm saving all my locked containers and building a stockpile of my best starship parts for if I surrender shipwright and regrind smuggler if its good, I'll have a stockpile of components and chasis b4 surrendering SW tho.
I feel smug should be enhancing starship parts, its the balance thats needed, like just to slice the YPR's would only be putting engines up to par with RE. RE should at least be a smuggler skill but to late for that. Before making SW's craft better they should consider smug slicing of starship comps, like they said they were going to do, but now that interview has been edited and that part about slicing in JTL has been removed.

God no! I don't want to 'enhance' starship parts ANY more than I want to slice or sell drugs or trade fp.
I want to freaking SMUGGLE. The rest has absolutely NOTHING to do with smuggling by any definition of the word I've ever been familiar with.
SOE can take the slicing and drugs and fp and shove them were the sun doesn't shine. I just want to smuggle and I'll settle for nothing less.

I looked on the swg site and cant find anything except for the CU so i guess i wont hold my breath.I was only keeping slicing to do my own armor and weapons but i think i'll just redo it all later when (if) they upgrade it.You guys are right though, i'll give it up for now and maybe take it up again when i see on the site that they are working on it.
Thanks fellas!

I'm only giving it up cause i'm going up TKA now and need the points.I will keep it as long as i can though, slicing was a @#tch and i dont fancy redoing it all again.I'll give up medic first but smuggler is unfortunately next...
I just got whooped to often by jedi so i want TKA to help me out a bit.

Actually, that all does have to do with being a Smuggler. Slicing is illegal... Smugglers illegally modify their weapons (like Han did). Though I've never heard about a Smuggler slicing armor, but eh... whatever.
Spices are illegal as well. While Smugglers are supposed to transport this spice, and I've never heard about Smugglers making spice (I don't recall Han ever offering Luke some Booster Blue he just made), I guess the Devs only added them because it seemed logical.
Though FP thing though... yeah, I can't quite figure that one out. That really has nothing to do with being a Smuggler.
Though even that all of that is part of Smuggler, smuggling is our main job.

Smuggler encompasses the shady, less-than-legal side of things in SWG professions, hacking, smuggling drugs, etc. fits right in, even if not everyone chooses to be a drug runner, or a ship system hacker, it's all folded into one. There really wouldn't be enough to make separate professions out of all the possible things a "Smuggler" could do.

Buying faction points is essentially bribery.
Random Smuggler: "So, how about letting me have a pistol and a suit of armor."
Quarter Master: "I'm sorry sir, you have neither the rank, proper clearance, or orders to requisition items here."
RS: "Perhaps this will change your mind?"*Smuggler slides a large credit chip across QM's desk*
QM: "Ahh, I'm sorry, I over looked you, mister..."
RS: "Johnson."
QM: "Yes, here's the name, right here, Johnson."
RS: "Thanks."
That's the way I see it, anyway.

Well givent that we don't smuggle a damn thing I fail to see why we're called smugglers. Call us Criminals, yes, but smugglers? I don't get it...we are NOT smugglers.
At the very least we should not call ourselves smugglers even if SOE does. If we're going to do what we do and not smuggle we should start calling ourselves something more appropriate...like Master Common Criminal.
I'm not a smuggler and neither are any of you since you do not, by the definition of the word, do a damn bit of smuggling.
Will we be one day? Going by past experience no we won't. Based on 'faith' maybe. But until then NONE of us are smugglers.

Ah, right. Never thought of that.
Now if only we had armor/weapons you could get at certain ranks... but Smugglers could bribe the recruiters into givining them the pieces at lower levels...

Technically, you do need certain ranks to get specific perks, due to the costs of the perks, and the fact that the maximum faction you can hold is restricted by your rank.
I just wish factional armor and weapons were worth it for more than role-playing value.
