Thread: I want to smuggle in this ship!
Given it's role in the literature it is being taken from, I think it's safe to say it will not be like the yacht.

Good points and I agree...but that doesn't answer the question

If they added another ship like the yacht, people'd riot. The yacht is pretty, it's got plenty of space, but it handles like a fat guy with no arms or legs in a swimming pool.
Has anyone heard officially whether the new YT will be customizable?

Not sure about that. The yacht is based on Lando's ship from the literature, "The Lady Luck", and in the EU it was well-equipped with weapons and good engines/shields.

And the yacht in game was ORIGINALLY supposed to be modifiable. That's why it has turret points. Fact of the matter is though, the engine is worthless.

THIS is where it's at.
The YT-2000 pwnes all!
At least this ones actually appeared in a Lucasarts game. It has an extremely fat butt, but you've got to have booty on a smuggler ship, right?
As much as I like the YT-2000, after a lot of work, I have determined that the ship is VERY small. Like, the only saving grace of the ship is that it has room for 3 decks, instead of just one.
As far as the YT-2400, it is actually quite small as well, if you take the "length" by it's literal definition of "whichever side is the longest is the length," in this case, what people would normally call the ship's width. So you'd measure the length from portmostto starboardmost bulkhead. This actually fits in with the game, "Shadows of the Empire" (first appearence of the 2400), as the ship was clearly shorter than the RPG stats state.

I doubt the YT-2400 will be a ship only usable by players with the expansion. Likely it can be traded or built.

what, exactly, in recent expansion history would lead you to believe that? didi miss something?
still not enough to get me to buy this blatant piece of movie tie in trash.
I think he's refering to the Flash Speeder
... And don't get me started on the escape pod/docking ring argument... Joken and I have a fragile peace on that argument.

Okay, general reply to several of the subjects in here.
I'm definitely not buying the expansion, I think it's a travesty.
The Grievous fighter, the Jedi Starfighter 2, and the neutral loot ship are all tradeable AFAIK, the BARC speeder and Varactyl are both tradeable, and so forth. Chances are the YT2400 will either be tradeable or available as a craftable item, perhaps akin to a RIS type quest schematic.
The YT 2400 IS smaller, by a little, but it also has a greater cargo capacity. A good 50 metric tons more I believe. I also think it shares quite a few parts with the YT.
ICK! The problem is that the people who 'made up' the stats THREW logic to the wind. It is too bad Robert Brown took his pages down... he was a genius when it came to analzing this stuff... given eyeball measurementsbased on shots from the movies and layouts for theFalcon, it had to be longer than the 20 some meters al'la WEGI hate WEG for this reason.... it is good they went down the tubes as they ruined several stats by 'making them up as they saw fit'.
To summarize: YT-1300 would HAVE to be between 50 - 60m LONG (I forget the width, but obviously it would be somewhere around 35m wide)
YT-2400 was MUCH smaller than the 1300, and would have LESS cargo space (even using floor plans that were made up, it has little or no cargo space). Brown theorized that it was more than likely a fast passenger curior ship or cargo that was smaller. (Esp due to it's lack of mandible loading arms and larger forward holds. All YT series have a similar design and share several basic parts. the 2400 is 'newer' than the 1300, but less customizable (although still extremely customizable when considering other ships). Granted the engines of the 1300 took more space than the 2000 or 2400, but the 2400 is ~ 1/2 the size...
Cargo space in 1300 ~ 2000> 2400

Docking ring.... if it was an escape pod, it would be missing in ANH
