This is so true and Hotdog also hit it on the head. As a Smuggler (a true Smuggler) most of us want to be hunted and have a price to pay for being a part of the under world. Ive been overt and tryed to sneak into star ports because i was board. It would rock to have Hutt Tef's or Smuggler Tef's or Bounty Tef's. Make it hard to be a Smuggler and in the process you add tons of content. Plus Bounty Hunters ant all that. Bring it!! I say Bring it!!
Don't be bothered by that guys response, your english is good enough to be understood and thats all that matters.
As to your question, the majority of us want this very much because we want to feel like we are doing something illegal. We'd love to feel some danger when we do something contraband. There are a few smugglers out there that only smuggle to add to their crafting template, and would rather things remain the same. I hope they are ignored. I'd like to see us get TEF's, get a bounty on our heads, and I'd like to see no sliced goods available on a Merchant or being sold in a player store. In other words, i'd like to be a smuggler!
I'm sorry, but if you think about it a TRUE smuggler doesn't want any trouble. They are happier when things are going their way. Why do you think so many smugglers work on their approach. They have to be the smartest, the most persuasive and the most conniving. Now keep in mind that you don't have clear cut bad smugglers. There are honest criminals. Han (since that's the only logical example I can use) was always in it for himself, but he changed. Because of the people in ran into he developed a kind of Robin Hood-esque trait to him, but he was neverbad. So of course he was a criminal just by his profession, but he wasn't the liar and thrill seeker so many peg smugglers to be.
Everyone wants to be some seedy criminal, but no one really knows how much that will impact those who may find that angle unfavorable to them. With the current view a smuggler has no depth. They are static and I for one do not want to be a static individual. They are seen no more than as a gun-toting thug that we see in modern movies today who is just one step from becoming a terrorist. That view needs to be expunged somewhat so we can actually see what a smuggler is.
If you look at bounty hunter you see how much leeway they are given to be who they are. A bounty hunter can be neutral, imperial, or a rebel. They are mercenaries for hire, but that doesn't stop them from being good, bad, or indifferent. Regardless of which side they're on they know whoever wins out will probably make their services close to unwanted or negated completely. People arewho they arebeforeany profession can begin to define them and many have to realize that before they box us into a corner.
