i usually slice for 7k, but i think i might raise it to 10k... no-one complained when i charged 5k, few complain when charging 7k, so i'll try 10k for some time...
best bonus-tip ever: some guy wanted his krayted Geo pistol sliced. informed him of the 7k cost, traded, started meditating, told him to pray for a speed-slice, and sliced away... a 34% damage slice!!!!! the guy was SO happy, he instantly tipped me 100k extra
just like the one above: if i kept the gun, i could've sold it for millions, but i guess im just too good-natured... and i don't want to lose customers

Before I dropped master smuggler to actually get a combat profession under my belt, I was toying with doing this little game with my clients:
Client: Hey, can you slice my weapon?
Me: Sure - lets play a little game with my fee at risk, ok? Let me explain how it works. You tell me what you want, and you guess what I'll get. My base fee is 7K. If I get what you want, then my fee doubles. If you guess what I get, then you get the slice for free. If neither statement is correct, I get my flat rate. How about it?
---
Good idea, but somehow, I see this scenario happening most of the time.
Client: d00z! slic 4 me!!1

Client: w tf?
Slicer: -explains it, more slowly this time-
Client: jus slic my wep!!!!
Or this one.

*agreement is made*
Slicer: 32% Speed, that'll be seven grand.
Client: liar! you got damage! i shud get it free!
*annoyance ensues*
Sorry, but that's how I see it happening. :?
Edit: Well, that's a new one on me, I didn't expect "w tf" to be considered protection worthy...

This was flogged to death about9 months ago. Back them masters were charging around 3k per slice or 100% per increase. There was huge debate bout upping prices to 10k per slice.
Now with prices dropping on some items because of solo-nerfs and these crazy loot spawns I think most people will start to bulk at high slicing prices. Not saying our time is less worth it, just that a lot of people won't be able to afford it. Personaly when I do slice for the public then I just say tip me what you feel like. It is realy abused.
Couple of Notes:
1.) There will always be someone that will charge less than you and unless your overt on opposite factions or in a guild war there is nothing you can do about it. You can not tell someone what there time or service is worth to them.
2.) It's up to you to set your prices. If you think you can get more for charging higher do so. If you think you can get more for charging less but do more slicing do so. In the end it's up to you and the customer.

Yeah, that's another reason why I didn't get around to doing it. Its tough to break out the paper table cloth and the crayons to explain stuff to people in an online game.

Ok maybe I am nuts but think a smuggler as to have some business sense to make it. So I look at slicing like I would look at managing a business. Here is how I break down my slicing fees and sorry if this upsets any of you money makers out there. This is based on buying all my supplies if you craft them yourself, to include owning all the extractors and factories your costs go don considerably.
Molecular Clamps - 7500cr/crate = 300cr each
Precision Laaer Knives - 2500cr/crate = 10cr each
WUKS/AUKS - 3500cr/crate = 140cr each
That makes my cost 450cr per weapon/armor slice and 310cr per container slice
Then I add a 30% resale markup to both weapon/armor and conatiner slices and another 100% Illegal business venture mark up to weapon/armor slices. This brings my total price to 5850cr for weapon/armor and 403cr for containers. Of course that gets rounded to 6k cr and 400cr

but 10k a slice is such a nice round number
And I don't charge 10k because it costs that much, I charge 10k because it's my time. It's my time that I'm using to do it. It's the things I miss cause i am late meeting up with a group. And it's my time that I take using an antiquated, tedious ui for slicing.
Also, I charge everyone for the slices I do for free, and on bases, and at the geo caves/DWB.
This is why I charge 10k. If I only charged to cover my expenses (plus extra) then I'd have to pay out my own pocket for all my firends/guildes/self

Hey...for one thing no smuggler can charge "too much" for anything. First of all let me say congratulations for getting people to pay that much. I couldn't ask that price with a straight face, so bully for you.
So let's can the "YOU'RE GREEDY!" right now before someone gets offended, like they always do. Because lets all remember that this is a Video Game. My greed will NOT kill people. It will not deprive people in a way that shows a wanton disregard for life. Because this is a video game. So greed's fine, and I'm a smuggler, I'm SUPPOSED to be greedy. Let the greed thing go.
Secondly, we have a nice tradition of "charge what you want" around here. Let's all remember that. Me? I kinda agree with Seera that, personally, I don't like charging that much for such an unpredictable service. That's why I go with the by percentage plan. I'm currently up to 300 credits per percent. So a 35% slice gets me 10,500. I'm not exactly making bank these days so I won't up that until the customer base enlarges and starts driving me nuts. But that's MY price. Others like to charge more. Others like to charge less. I say charge what ya want, but in my opinion, charge as much as you think the suckers will pay.
