Ladies and gentlemen of the smuggler community, I salute you. For the last 2 years and change, we've played a profession that had absolutely diddily squat to do with smuggling as we knew it. We've survived the pistoleer nerfs, which took the damaging power away from our best support profession. We've survived the tripple-quintuple slicers that sought to undermine our profession turning weapons into rediculous 10000 damage .0 speed monsters.
The encounters with moronic players who were immortalized in their stupidity in our smuggler's chuckle thread. The endless promises of revamp, over and over, only to have the carpet yanked from under us again and again. The skills we've lost thanks to abuse by dabblers and defense-minded jedi. Remember well panic shot for the perfect delay shot it was, low blow as a shot in the family jewels, feign death as a great way to piss off pvp'ers, and get gloriously black barred at the same time.
To be a profession that within the first month of the game nobody wanted to be. To be equivalent in numbers with the bio-engineers, the architects, and the post nerf creature handlers. To hang on so tightly to a beloved iconic profession, even as nearly every other player went the way of the glowstick. To all of this, I bow to you, even as the new system comes in. There are still many questions to be answered, yes, but alas, as one of only 9 professions, we will be innundated with new blood, the market flooded with scoundrels who will probably never get a chance to love this profession as we have.
I promised to stay until smuggler recieved some decent attention, and have enjoyed helping draw up documents that suggested just how such attention could be used. Soon we will get to experience what I believe will be the final broad spectrum change to the smuggler profession, and it's quality will determine what I do next.
I bought this game to be a smuggler, and if possible, the best damn scoundrel this server would ever see. Without ever having been able to actually smuggle anything, I still feel a great level of success and notoriety thanks to my friends and guildmates, and fellow smugglers happy to toss a guy a bone amidst his own humble beginnings.
If I decide to leave, consider this my goodbye. If i stay, then this was a goodbye to our profession as we knew it. A borked, broken, nerfed-down, slice/spice junkie laden, idiot culling profession that is as loved as it gets.
Just remember that we may not look like much, but we got it where we counts, and we made all the modifications ourselves. Also, considering how many more jedi we're gonna have tramping about, never forget that hoakey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side. Give em hell guys.

I suppose this will be a breaking point for a lot of people. Here's to hoping it turns out well.

I would love to agree with you, but you used a phrase I now utterly despise!
"Give em Hell" That's our ships motto, and it makes me want to kill people everytime I hear it.
Other than that
