Thread: How did you get your character name? ooops....

My Main character is Teedo Kobak. A long time before I got the game, when I was fantasising about it, I already decided I'd be a rodian and started thinking of a name and I liked Teedo, then later I thought of Kobak. I have lots of Alts to. One, according to his bio, is Teedo's brother, Carthag, in reference to Carthage (don't ask me why). Another one is a from the name generator that I really liked, Issosc Skido. Then there's Parmula, meaning "little shield" in Latin. And I have one called Qwerty, named after my keyboard. Then there's MadJohn Rackham, which is a game given to me by an online "What's your pirate Name" quiz. Then there is Sreeglo, which came form the name generator also I think.

Loto- Dante was already taken from a charater on my friends account so i took the name of the hero from my favorite video game Dragon Warrior 3, the actual name is Edrick, but i prefer the rerelease version's name
McCleod- highlander is my favorite movie, i just wish i had not been drunk and remebered how to spell it right

I was a history major in college with a huge interest in the Crusades and the Knights Templar and their history, which is why I choose the name I did.


Yes, I believe the De Molay Society is a youth organization of the Masons. I think about 95% of the Presidents of the US were Masons. Interesting history of them. Peep the book 'Temple and the Lodge'. Good read for history buffs.

Lacq Laithlind is the name, and I came up with it because I wanteda first name and a surnamethat sounded good together - kind of like the way they came up with the name R2-D2.


If you check out Star Wars names more closely, they very often are names taken directly from different cultures, geographyor from history - just check out Byblos Drive Yards for instance. (Byblos Drive Yards manufactured bounty hunter Zuckuss' starfighter "Mist Hunter".) Byblos is actually aplace in Lebanon, which is on the UNESCO's World Heritage List due to its long and ancient history, mostly known for it's importance for the Phoenicians. This is the same method I have used. Here is the explanation:


Laithlind is an irish gaeliccorruption of a norse name (or a norse geographical name);it is also seen as Lothlind, Laithlinn and Lochlainn. A supposedly norwegian king named "Amlaíb, son of the king of Laithlind, came to Ireland and the Foreigners of Ireland [i.e. the Vikings] submitted to him and he received tribute from the Irish". See Sawyer, Peter (ed.): The Oxford Illustrated History of the Vikings (Oxford 1999) p. 90.


Why I chose this name makes of course much more sense when you know that I am norwegian



Lacq is actually a gasfield in France. I was here inspired by Bellocq from the Indiana Jones trilogy; I have always been intrigued by this peculiar french ending of a word (or name)- the "cq" - as one may also see in the movie "Vidocq".

I wanted Deus Mortus, but the name was taken, was to lazy to check out if D'eus or something like that worked, so I took hepheastus, I currently want another name, serves my lazy booty right...

Well I began playing in November 2003 and just used the very predictable (for a matrix fan) AGENT SMITH apparently this was againstthe ToS ( I never read that lol)


I then by my own will deleted AGENT SMITH moved from Chimeara to Infinity and created JAMBOL WILLON, this is my 'star wars; name crated by taking the first 3 letter of my first name (james) the first 3 letters of my surname (bolton) the first 3 letters of my mother's maiden name (williams) and the first 3 letters of the town I was born in (london) This I believe is the most interesting name I've got.


I then decided it was time to come back to chimeara and now I'm back with anotehr unoriginal name NAS CHOKA I won't tell you where I got this name from but I will say that it is VERY star warsy!

Just thought it would be funny to have a redneck running around in Star Wars. Luke was already taken obviously. lol The plan was for Bubba Ray Ledbetter, but Bubba was taken as well. Tried a couple of combinations before JimmyRay was born. The ingame bio has the full name though,
