  1. Many correspondents present and past, like to talk (type) in these forums. That means the more of us that could look and post in the forums added to what the developers had to wade through in order to get what they wanted from a discussion.

  2. Some of us just don't get along wellfor whatever reason.Several of usbickered and argued fairly often. I'm certainly not innocent in this. When thirty strongly opinionated people are shouting at each other in the forum, all trying to get attention for that aspect of the game they believe requires developer intervention, little is accomplished.

Now those things being mentioned, it's obvious there were quite a few voices asmany former correspondents were given the title of blue glowie. No matter how valuable our input is on a variety of subjects, we no longer fill the position of correspondents and as such, should let those filling that position do the work they volunteered for. Most of us are happy to help in any way we can and our insight and experience can easily be called upon whether we have access to that forum or not.

Well along the lines of the term thing, and the problem of crowding... I really wish certain correspondent(s) would get their walking papers.

I reallycan't stand theones who refuse to see things in terms of greater good, benefit of the game, or even how things should be. They are truly the ones who prevent meaningful progress in the game with their shortsightedness and selfish reasoning.

The sad thing is that many of the "Blue Glowies" have a better grasp and speak more openly about what's best for the game and it's players than some of the current Correspondents.

I've always been a lurker, and I see it all the time.

Guess that means you're on your own Wes. Just let us know when you need a good focus thread or anything else to back up your arguments.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

HUH???

Maybe this is good, you tell me.

Yeah...I heard it was coming last week...And while I hate to lose my Correspondent forum access, I can understand why it's happening...Look at how many Correspondents have quit even in the last year...That's a lot of Blue Glowies...And, something not many folks know (but TH did say was ok to talk about), Correspondents now also have set 6 month terms (at the end of which they can reapply or move on to Blue Glowie status). These 6 month term rulestarted just over 4 months ago so we'll be seeing a lot more Blue Glowies popping up in May (one of the reasons I resigned when I did was because I figured my term would have been up DURING CU testing, which would have looked really weird for me to step down then). With so many Blue Glowies out there, this makes things pretty crowded in the Correspondent forum where focus NEEDS to be on Correspondent issues (seems like there are more Blue Glowies making posts in the Corr Forum then Correspondents these days).

There was talk about making Blue Glowies have read only access, but I don't think that worked out...And you know me, I'd have a hard time keeping quiet in that forum without read only access...So, to keep focus on "Correspondent" issues, it makes sense for them to remove our access...Nothing prevents Blue Glowies from once again becoming Correspondents some day.

So like I said, I don't like losing my access, but at the same time, I don't fee like it's a "slap in the face"...just wish there was a better route we could have taken but I totally understand the reasons for it.

On a side note...Blue Glowies will still have their same access to the CU and Sandbox testing and will still not count as "team members" (so LordS and I still don't take up a Commando slot)...I just don't have access to rant directly to the Devs like I once did (guess I'll just have to bring those rants back here...lol)...

Well, the fluffy reason is that there are far too many people posting in the Corr forum.

A real reason (I think there are multiple reasons, but I will not post those ) is that there have indeed, been some pretty nasty posts there lately. I won't go into detail, but I certainly won't say that only glowies are responsible (basically some corrs and some glowies are guilty). Basically, they cut off the people they could resonably cut off.

FWIW, we did get multiple warnings before this measure was taken, but they seem to have failed

Oh, and I am mostly sure I am still on Santa's 'nice' list .

so as I read it... the major cause is the number of blue glowies is growing at a huge rate and that is expected to increase withterms ending in May. To much noise lately, not enough consensus and basically a lot of worthless bickering brought this about. I am truely sad that this occurred and I hope they relent and at least allow read-only access to the Glowies (with maybe a small forum off to the side the devs don't have to read that the glowies can discuss in)

This seems like an unfortunate though regrettably inevitable desicion. The purpose of Correspondents was to streamline the communication process and, when used, increase signal, lower noise. If the amount of people in there keeps growing it will eventually be little better than the boards here. At some point, culling the herd is simply necessary or it loses whatever use it currently has.
