Did some more organising.

Added the 'Connections' skill to Underworld...

Added a Bravado option to Resilience (Iam heavily fordefense against state changes I guess, and I know others are as well.)

Put in an addition to panic shot, if they wont restore it to what it was, maybe it can be changed to a cone intimidate... It has to be improved some way over what it is now.

Someone mentioned contraband scans hurting the slicing market. I think that's the idea since Slicing shuold be illegal and should have risk with the illegal activity. Same with spices and all other illegal activity.

What people are going to have to understand is that we are Smugglers and we should be SMUGGLING. Not being "Power-Up Artists". To cut back on the rash of sliced weapons and illegal things in the economy is to bring our true purpose and name-sake into view...smuggling.

I would much rather make my money off of Smuggling stacks of Endorian Wooly Hide or Lokian Wheat through the galaxy than sitting in front of a startport spamming out in the open for illegal merchandise. That just makes sense. So I'm all for raising contraband scans if I can have a healthy smuggling market even if it means cutting back on Sliced weapons.

I also don't see why people think they're going to have to have a smuggler to step a foot off their doorstep. It's risk versus reward. You carry contraband you run the risk of getting caught. So simply, carry all the high-end weapons you want, just don't slice 'em and you'll be fine. Also, I want to point out that Smuggling items isn't meant for taking some with 3 sliced rifles from Theed to Coronet. Smuggling is taking large amounts of illegal items from Point A to B to C and finally to D.

Sorry if I came off rude or aggressive, it's just that people have to understand that we are Smugglers, notslice puppets. Trust me, why would you rather sit at a starport spamming for slicing and just making schematics for spices when you can be receiving tells because Joe Armorsmith needs 4 stacks of Endorian Wooly Hide picked up at the Research OP and taken to his shop outside of Bestine. If that isn't your particular type of drink, I believe you may be in the wrong profession.

You know Caylin, you keep putting together great revamp ideas like this and SOE is going to try and hire you to develop revamp docs on ALL the professions.

Everything you said, absolutely correct and excellently articulated. I see so much this new-and-improved profession can add, not just for our enjoyment, but for the game as a whole.

A few minor thoughts I had, that I'm not even sure I'd totally support myself, but that might calm others. While I would much rather earn my living moving illicit cargo from point to point and avoid getting shot at, having a bounty placed on my head, being incarcerated, etc than spamming my slicing macro, I'm sure we'll end up with people who would like to be full time slicers. As the question of high-consequences for sliced items has come up, would not one suggestion be a craftable "powerup" item that, when attached to a weapon or piece of armor effectily cloaks it for a few minutes? Like i said, not sure i support it, but its an idea.

Also, will novices have problems being able to find the containers they need to level up if they are no longer certified for clamps? We know how many people are absolutly certain their container has a golden crystal in it. Are they going to risk that container to a non-guaranteed novice slicer?

Finally, and this is purely random I must admit. Would it be possible to have a different title than "Master Smuggler?" Only reason I ask, since we're actively pushing for a more underworld, criminal feel to the profession, wouldn't it be more likely to have a title that's not so blatant? Every other profession (besides Jedi) can easly go around blatantly making claims about who they are. A smuggler, however, seems more likely to be more incognito, being known more by reputation than business cards if you will. I know, it's kinda a dunb, minor idea, jus hit me reading your doc and thought i'd bring it up.

I am relatively new to being a master smuggler on my alternate character, but there is one thing you mentioned in this that I would not like to see. The ability to use last ditch on any ranged pistol/carbine/rifle weapon. I find that simply way to overpowering. Imagine a T21 with a x6 modifier! I can see way too many people, especially PVP, ending up being a 0/0/4/0 smuggler option. I have no problem with people dabbling that is something that is great in this game. By the way if that happened, one of my guys would end up master rifleman/master swordsman/smuggler 0,0,4,0/novice medic which can be done. Just my 2 cents.

Yes I agree this can easily be overpowered,

Yet I would like it as a possibility, especially as the combat revamp is upcoming and what may be overpowered now, may not be so in the near future.

All is subject to change in the next few publishes. It is still random HAM, so I'm sure many riflemen would stillprefer headshot 3 as it is ham specific.

Hmmm Swindler...

I like that more than profiteer, and it fits too...

I mean, what titles in the movies are we aware of, referring to the characters Lando and Solo...

Swindler
Pirate
Scoundrel

What others?

Heck I could go for a complete reordering here.

Novice Smuggler - Novice Smuggler
Underworld - Rogue
Slicing - Slicer
Dirty Fighting - Pirate (How you doing, you old pirate? So good to see you!")
Profiteer - Swindler ("Why you slimy, double-crossing, no good swindler! You've got a lot of guts coming here after what you pulled!")
Master Smuggler - Scoundrel ("Scoundrel? SCOUNDREL? I like the sound of that!")

Caylin sorry to come in a little late...remember I mentioned way back in the day. Could we get emails form factions we are friendly with IE Jabba or Borvo depending on planet and depending on how much faction we have with them telling us when we get a bounty placed on us. IE Jabba sends an email via someone saying "I hear someone's picked up a bounty on you from Bestine" or some rogue corsecs say "Now we normaly don't talk to your kind but because you've helped us out before we'd like to tell you someone just landed in Tyrena and they are looking for you...good luck he looks like a BH"

just restating and idea I said a while back dunno if it has been nullified or unable to happen but it would make the whole player bounty system at least for smugglers seem more RPish.

Connections:

  • Allow smugglers through their connections and various factions, gain knowledge of when a Bounty Hunter has accepted a mission to take them out.

That was the one where I went through all that email stuff. So It's there...

First, the name is Smuggler411, not someone. Second, I completely agree that smuggling should be our main money maker. I was only suggesting an idea to make it not so harsh for slicers. Not everyone wants to be a smuggler, some have wanted there own slicer profession since before this game was in beta. Instead slicing got added into the smuggler profession. So before you go off again remember some smugglers are slicers.

I would much rather make my money off of Smuggling stacks of Endorian Wooly Hide or Lokian Wheat through the galaxy than sitting in front of a startport spamming out in the open for illegal merchandise. I would rather have the same thing, though I hope Wooly Hide doesn't turn out to be highly illegal.

I won't comment on you being rude, as I don't take it personally. I've gotten into heated discussion before when talking about how the Smuggler profession should be.
