Thread: My fellow Smugglers...
Actually a combination of two fo your suggestions may work.
1- Change the name on our houses- While going on strike hurts other players, a name change with a simple statement like Smugglers Revamp Now or whatever gets attention but harms no one. Maybe we can ask every player that agrees to do this. Like bumper stickers. We express an opinion. We still slice, no one gets to get greedy and change the slicing economy but we will see how many support us. Best route for this.. Talk to city mayors. In fact talk to the one in your city! If you live in one. Your own mayor is most likely to help you. And people live by are most likely to be your friends.
Next talk to your guild leader and any other guild leader you can. Again, they know people and can spread the word faster. I think this may actually be the best idea i can think of.
2-Dont slice on one day- A permanent strike will only upset the other players and its not their fault that the devs have not revamped us or not been staffed properly by SOE to get the job done. So how about say a Monday slice ban. Yes, there will be less players playing. We only need players hear we did it. Not shut out most people on the heaviest playing days. Again, if we make it hard for others to achieve their game because we held back our services, such as they are, they will not support us.
My bumper sticker goes up tonight "Smuggler Revamp Now" I have 10 houses and a guild to get started who is with me?
Masal Master Smuggler <AoS> "Smuggler Revamp Now"
PS can some post this to all the galaxy forums? that would help spread the word faster.

I support this 100% and will ceace all Smuggling now, as long as I hear something from Caylin reguarding all of this.
Not to be flip -but you areceasing doing something that youhaven't been able todo in the first place. But if you meant that you are ceasing slicing and selling faction and selling spices (not that anyone buys the stuff anymore), then rock on.
Huh? ok, Ill rephrase...
I will stop slicing, selling spice (which I do, just not near as much), and selling faction if this gets the support of the Smuggler Corrospondant.
I'll not be taking part in this. I'm not a Scab. I'm not happy. I agree with all of the principals we hold dear. But this is just plain not going to work. In fact, Mapai, I'm surprised at you. You've been around nearly as long as me. You ought to know better.
1) Roughly 1/3 of the playerbase, in general, even reads these boards. This is a generous estimate. That's not to say that 1/3 of practitioners of the Smuggling Profession read these boards. I have NO idea if we have a higher or lower percentage of board reading participants. So, if the average holds, at least 2/3's of us aren't even going to HEAR about this.
2) As someone has already pointed out..well...we're smugglers. We take advantage of other people's problems, including the problems of our fellow smugglers. I'm not going to comment on the wisdom, nor the ethics involved in this (though I think wisdom would make a better arguement, as smugglers have different rules and ethics of their own).
3) Would the dev's notice or care? Ooo. We aren't selling spice. So what? I'm not selling spice now. Not because I don't have it for sale, but because no one's buying it. The non-slicing might hack some people off, but it's not going to reach the dev's ears (see above). And as for not wearing our titles, how will the dev's even notice that?
So I'm sorry, but this protest isn't going to work, and I'm not going to put myself in a position to lose money at a time when I need to be making it, especially for futile reasons, no matter how right those reasons are.
You want to make a dent? The signs editing, that might help. Make up a batch of spice, sell it at next to nothing on the bazaar, title it something to do with the smuggler protest. Give it away with each slice.
Tell folks you _could_ have picked their slice if the revamp had been done.
Tell them you _could_ have gotten a better slice as master, if the revamp had been done.
"This crappy slice brought to you by Q3P0, and the number 0. That'll be 5k."
Hell, tell an incapped buddy that you're really sorry, but if the REVAMP had been done, you'd be feeding him poison-mitigation spice right now.
Bottom line is, probably more people want to see a Jedi revamp and a Space Expansion than care about Smugglers having a purpose other than crappy armor slices and muon. We'll know by 2005, maybe.
While I do not deny what your post is saying. I can't in good conscience deny my customers the services that we provide. The way to get things done is not always to deny that thing. While I hope that the profession will getthe changes it deserves I do not think that total denial is that answer.
