I'll tell youone thingand this is not a kiss-up...I think the artists really do a nice job with SWG. I've been playing for almost 2 yrs and the graphics are a big part of what keeps me here. There's lots of other stuff out there (game wise)and in my opinion SWG hangs in with all of them from an art standpoint even though its not as new. Walking around on the corvette, exploring Kash...

I cranked up my display settings the other day to see if my 'puter could handle it and was knocked over.

I'm disappointed with the Dev team for all of the smuggler reasons - but there's a lot of reasons I stay and this is one of them.

Kudos Goliath and the rest of your team.

Exactly.

I just wanted to go ahead and add my approval to this statement as well. The art department does a great job, and I know from the projects Goliath has mentioned working on in the past, he's a big part of that.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I think that players and creature skins could use an update though...make them look more realistic. I play hl2...and then swg...the graphics on charachters and creatures are showing age.

I think the overall graphics are good though...and well...I certainly don't want something that will increase lag even worse.

Just so I don't seem to be hijacking the thread....I do think smugglers as well as other professions need more content...maybee a black market or something for the smugglers...

Any chance they are giving us rebs some armor that doesnt look like kermit the freakin frog?? We can't seem to keep any rebel armorsmith because of this. I mean considering the choices... craft cool looking stuff you saw in the movies OR.... make a tin suit for kermit the frog... hmm. I can't really blame them for it but I still gotta ask if a change is in the pipe

speaking of art.. any chance we can get a forum icon that says "Han Shot First!" for your fellow smugglers?

mind for clarifying, please? =) i musst have missed that

I can't remember off the top of my head who said it, but it happened awhile back. SWG was getting some backlash in the press because of letters being written to gaming magazines (not the stuff recently, this was a ways back). One of the management level guys basicly said that we were never promised anything, that we were never supposed to get certain things, etc. etc. It was rather ugly, and the guy hasn't really said too much since.

Now back to the beer and pie.

Hayden Blackman.. and he's still listed as the lucasarts producer of SWG among other things including some very poorly written books.

I post in this thread to see if Goliath or the art department can fix one art glitch that has bugged me since release:

R3 Droids are supposed to have the opaque trapezoid sections on top of their domes like R2 units have.

That's right. I knew he wasn't gone, they just don't let him speak in public anymore because of what he said I'm sure.

I still remember when he was on the SOE side of the house. His attitude seemed different back then which makes you wonder.

I havn't gone anywhere, still cranking out art for everyone

As it has been mentioned I'm not really in the loop as far as programming. I'm an artist. I have posted a couple of times but it usually doesnt work out too well. I'm still around though. I'm here reading the forums, logging into SWG every day and playing by your sides.

Thanks for your hard work. SWG's graphics are beautiful and other than the particle effects the CU added are very realistic. The particle effects are attractive they just have no place in SWG, but that's not the artists fault I suppose.

In any event, please post more, we love hearing from you guys (well mostly .

I'm sure you've seen some of the loot paintings you can get off NPCs and in other places in game. Some of those are concept works for things that never made it in game. Also I have some of the aniversery paintings from last year, some of those are ships that didn't make it in game. So in a way you have already seen some things that only made it in game as paintings rather then being fully realized.

I remember some Features with Concept Art from the early days of SWG development.

I think a collage of concept art would make a nice Friday Feature... *hint* *hint*

some of those ships were waycooler than those that made it in the game
