After being a TK for a while though, you tend to get spoiled by meditation -this is very true,I cant live with out it now. Hehe, I am still typing /medit from time to time out of habit. It was really painful to start with not having very many medics that stay in the med center to heal wounded. Heaven forbid if you get blown up in space as well for those wounds

I would say that smuggler is most definitely a combat profession.

I agree for the most part - it wasn't a salad shooter than Han used on Greedo under the table.

But we shouldn't be as strong as a Bounty Hunter or a Pure Pistoleer. We should use our specials to get away from the fight, by either neutralizing the enemy long enough to get away, or by creating enough confusion to get away.

However that is the one drawback to having a player bounty on smugglers if we get evasion skills.

With a Jedi (especially with the Feign Death nerf) the bounty will end at the death of the Jedi or the Bounty Hunter.

With a smuggler using evasion tactics, no one dies, and the bounty is always active until the smuggler is killed, or can kill the Bounty Hunter. Pure smugglers aren't that strong to kill them; that's why they are using evasion. So - there would have to be a way that a smuggler can get the bounty removed after a failed attempt from a BH. If they are attacked and are fortunate enough to survive to get away, then maybe the smuggler could look for a BH terminal, slice into it and try to remove the bounty. Upon a failure, the bounty just doubled. A success cancels the mission and removed the threat for a time.

Just ideas. But back to the original topic - smugglers do have some combat oriented abilities - we're not chef or dancers, we live and work in dangerous places, and living smugglers know how to watch their back as well as fight.

When I think of 'combat' I think of battlefield skills...NOT back-alley skills.

BH and Smuggler should NOT be all that effective on a battlefield with professional soldiers. They SHOULD be quite effective in the back-alley one on one or even against a gank squad.

A soldier without his squad for support should be considerably less effective in a back-alley environment.

So, I wouldn't call us a 'combat profession'. I'd call us what we are...criminals with the fighting skills relevant to the setting we live in.

Throw us on a battlefield without the training that a professional soldier would get and we should be rather like a fish out of water.
