Thread: Feign Death revisited

what really annoys me about fdeath is it seems to randomnly pop me back up like 5-10seconds after it works. and its not jedi healing me or anything, seems it happens quite often illfd, then a bunch of ppl will crowd round me, just as they are about to run off i pop back up and get worked. this seems to happen maybe 25% very annoying.
just curious but i wonder if they are aoe affecting you. That would be intresting. Also how does a jedi with xxx4 heal someones states that is fd. For example if i'm on my jedi and i'm imp overt and your rebel overt how would i tag a heal on you if your opposite faction declared. That does not make much sense to me.
They say that every combat move has a counter. And they do, the thing is j3di cloak is not considered a combat only move cuz it can be used out of combat. FD can not be used wile not in combat and thus is a combat only move. So it is supposed to have a counter. I think that the success rate of FD is countermove enough. If there is to be a FD counter it IMO should have the same success rate as FD does, and it cant be done multiple times to the same FD smuggler, by different players. Fix the cheat-ploits and the FD breaks after a stasis goes away. I would like to know what that counter for the j3di no DB buff and force cloak is? Just wondering cuz it is used in combat and is a big force drain but can it be broke .5 seconds after the j3di uses it wasting his force that was used on the buff?

Seriously ive never used feign death in pvp and i see no reason whatsoever to do so either. It can have its uses in pve but seriously why do you think any class should be able to just press a button while overt and suddenly become un attackable. Im suprised they even let it work in pvp to some extent. The descrition on it says something like it just might make your enemies leave you alone. In no way whatsoever does it say that your enemies will fall for it, The people that hit you with a dot or and aoe is just people that see thru it.

Ok i to some extent agree cloak is an easy way out of hard fights but it is far from full proof and to me atleast it makes more sense that someone is able to hide from a fight then then it is to to lie down and pretend to be dead. When it comes down to dot's it would just be too silly if they stopped working just because you pretend to be dead. I think FD works fine as is, you can use it to loose aggro if you been using aoe's or gotten to much healing aggro but it should not be something you use in pvp imo. Oh and ive never seen jedi use the heal state trick you talk about but i must ask myself how can an enemy jedi use any sort of healing on you? When i try and heal a red i heal whoever that person is attacking. If they do it by having covert's running with them just to do this then thats a pretty lame tactic but seriously how often can this be happening?

Ive used feign in pvp but only to lose their attention, as they start hitting someone else i jump back and and try to use my SL and CC abilities to keep the fight going in our favour, its not my job to die for the other faction, its my job to support my group.
if its too late and say my whole group is dead i will stand up and die, not lay there hopingthe enemywill leave. FD is part of our temp and used responsibly can be helpful in pvp. ive heard many ppl get flamed for using it, but i never have because i dont use it to get out of a fight, only as part of my tactics.
on the original topic, ive never been pulled out of FD, but i have randomly stood up, but honestly very rarely and FD works for me about 80% of the time.

Lying down and pretending to be dead is a way to hide from a fight. It's a not unknown tactic in combat of every sort (RL) the only hard part being wether or not your convincing enough. if I'm in the middle of a fight with a MOB, and one of them dies, I certainly don't keep on shooting it to make sure it's really dead...I just assume that it is. The only reason this move is so easy to see through in PvP is because every other class knows that it exists as a move, and can tell that your not really incapped. Btw, the believability of the move is already built into the low success rate of the move...so if it suceeeds, it should be believable enough that everyone either just leaves you alon or (at most) tries to rez you. Maybe THAT should be the counter to the move.
Using this in PvP is considered an exploit? Really? That is so...wrong. Anyone who does anything to a character that has succededin Feigning Death (except for attempting to rez them) should be the ones accused of exploiting...notthe person attempting to use a legitimate move to escape combat.
