i thought perhaps a few smugglers would be like, yeah, we want to pick our slices, we could raise our rates. yeah, our profession is arguably the least enjoyable in the game compared to its potential. our profession needs a lot of work, and here is anotherreason why.

you guys dont care. point taken. just remember, i Y all of you.

Awwww, someone is mastering our sarcasm skill - that's sooooo cute

Look - scroll back in the forum and read the vast amount of debates on this topic - we care, but the point as been argued for eons so why bring it up with this thread????

I mean seriously - what did you expect "I got a crappy slice and I want all the smugglers to know about it" We LIVE with crappy slices - we don't need you to remind us of this. If you want a constructive discussion you really could've phrased your initial message better so it didn't come off like a little whiny rant.

Love ya babe!

Actually, last night I scliced 2 scythes for a M Swordsman friend of mine.

I got a 28% damage and a 34% speed. Hard to argue with that.

its not like i care. im just glad they kept it bumped up in case someone working happened along these forums. if anyone of these ppl spent as many hours as i did on being a rifleman, they'd understand. /shrug

And (I'm not flaming you here,) if you spent as many hours as we have been wishing we could actually smuggler, you'd understand.

Guess we're on opposite sides of the fence. What I usually tell people when I get a crappy slice (Speed on nice weapons, etc) is that it's still improved, it's not as if I lowered the damage, or made the gun slower. It's better no matter if it's 11% speed or 35% damage.

I do respect your profession, and I respect that I'd be totally pissed too if it were me. But please don't come in here and act as if your profession is borked for you now because you got a bad slice on a weapon. Any slice is a better slice, and Rifleman is one of the least-broken combat professions in this entire game.

/tiphat

I completle agree with that, your gun is better now, if you don't like sell it. Also I go a bit farther, I like them being random.

If you hadspent any time here and did not come in just to b*tch about a slice that may not have been what you wanted but still made the weapon better you might have seen that we do in fact care about our profession and fight almost daily to try and improve it. But hey, stop in again in 4 or 5 months when your pissed off about another bad slice and make some more generalizations about things you know nothing about.

Bottom line we don't want to slice your uber Bezerker Rifle, when you already know it is random and you may get a speed slice. We want to put down our Laser Knives and Smuggle. Viva La Resistance.

Now would be a good time for the Chewbacca Defense.

I'd have expected better from a fellow Tarquinian ( TARQ > ALL).

It all boils down to this simple fact:

"Pick 'o Slice" should have and will never be truely implimented because it throws combat out of balance. Such with your rifle, if you were able to choose a damage slice on that it wouldn't be "fair" for combat. And that's the problem.

The closest we might get to this is the "experimental" Slicing where we get Slicing points and use them like an experiment phase. Or, who knows, we might get a form of slicing that is more of a mini-game in and of itself so that it would truely rely on skill.

Sorry about your rifle, but you knew the risks going into this. If you didn't, well, T.S. You've been around and you know better.

We, as Smugglers, don't like the whole thing about Slicing running so rampant or it's true random. Some of us would prefer some level on control.

And I'd reckon that 99% of us would like heavy contraband restrictions that would make you shake your head "no" violently at the thought of getting that rifle sliced at all for fear that CorSec, RSF, Imperials, or other scan teams and law enforcement agencies would inflict a heavy penalty on such an outrageously modified and illegal weapon.

See, I don't believe that you wanted agreement, or concordance, whatever from the Smugglers. You didn't want anything from the Smugglers at all. In fact, as you stated in your original post, you wanted your weapon reverted, or your little uber loot items back, just because a specifically designed game element worked exactly as designed, which you knew beforehand was exactly the way the it was intended to work, just didn't work like you wanted.
Not only is there not a chance in hell that the (nonexistant) SOE staff member you're calling for is ever going to meet your demands, you're not going to get any sympathy for one bad slice from the people who know, more intimately than anyone, over, and over again the pain of bad slices, and have to deal with all the upset and angry customers.
