Thread: why smuggler?

For myself and a few others I know, it's based on an idea of Role-Play, not of "winning"

Many folks play these games to try to "win" by whatever definition they may have of it. Even though this game, as with all other RP games, there is no win screen. There is no high score.

to quote one of my fav old timey PnP games: "It's not a matter if you win or lose. It's how good ya look doing it."

If I was playing this game to kill the most uberist mob or pk the population of Theed with a meer fart, Smuggler would not be my first choice. But i satisfy the urge to do such things in FPS games online. Here I am looking to immerse myself in the fantasy world that lives in my head.

I want to see the galaxy, comprehend it, experience it. not beat it into submission and loot it.

While being chickmagnets is a true statement bymy fellow MALE smugglers (Becuse they Are!) , being a female and Twi' adds a whole new level of Domination and smoothness over the common KILL 'EM ALL players (*cough**bh,,jedi**cough*). Seriously who can resist the sexy female Twi' in revealing clothing? You know you will pay an additional 5K on a slice or tip a little more. Need that extra fix?I got you covered big boy

Makin' deals and breaking hearts thats the life of a smuggler. Either you are one or you aren't there is no half way.

I do so love a bad girl.

I met this smuggler bird the other day... lovely girl, great dresser, blew me away. She know how to put me in my place too. Probably some 48 year old bloke living in his parent's basement, eating pizza pops muttering about how this english guy is hitting on him.

Now THAT is a scary sight.

After the 14 months I've been away from this game, I left a master smuggler. At that time it wasn't because of the gameplay I left, it was because my mayor and friends fell appart and our -3 population from a metropolis on Naboo (Platinum City, Naritus, I miss j00). Now, I know I could just go back to my old server and resume my master smuggler, with his pre-nerf armors and weapons, and a boat load of cash (Speaking of which, 1 million credit transfer to Intrepid anyone? Please PM ME) and his force sensitive slots, but I choose to go with my friends, as we return to another server in hopes of a different environment. I'm going back to Master Smuggler, only thing I approve of so far, is the Pistol XP for slicing (THANK GOD no more sitting at a terminal and slicing it every two minutes, with crates of clamps and laser knives pre purchased for uber amounts of money, and slicing once every two minutes). Why am I doing something I've already done? Partially the twilek chicks, but mostly because it's a living style, it's an attitude, it's.....life.

Either you are a Smuggler, or you're not. And if you have to think about it, you're not.

As of right now, I have read that spice pushing is useless, which to me sounded like a fabulous idea for missions. Also, slicing is glitched, but is being fixed (thankfully). But aside from those flaws, what are the benefits to being a smuggler? Do you get to do cool smuggling missions pushing spices and weapons? Or is it just a nice tag to have hanging over your characters head?

I've been a smuggler since release until the revamp. I felt I'd give another profession combination a try. Bad mistake for me. Now I've dropped the other profession and am releveling back up to Master Smuggler. Why? Because no matter what profession you take once you're a Smuggler you'll always be one. It's not just a profession or the skills. It's the feeling you get when you play as a Smuggler in game. We fight dirty. We are respected and trusted by most players. Who else would you trust handing over your brand new uber weapon to? Myself I'm a very patient guy. On release I remember fondly the days I used to kill things that normally would kill me quickly just by hitting em with a bleed and feign deathing for hours at a time...lol. I like feign death a lot myself...its my personal pause button in game. Real life sometimes gets in the way while I play so just find something to fight then feign...come back later after you do what you have to do...lol. But more than anything else its just the feeling you get when you play. I also enjoy the moments when I slice a gun or some armor for a person and I get a nice slice...I'm happy and my customer is happy. As a Smuggler you're not just some button pusher that wants to own everything...you're a Smuggler and it gives you a different perspective on the game.
