Pretty much from the beginning. I left college for the military after my second semester... and I don't have too many credits from those 2 terms.

I will officially be the old guy.

What branch are you in? I just got backfrom AF Tech School with 41 college credits from the courses they gave me.. you should look into it...

To give you some background on me and training...

Boot Camp

Marine Combat Training

Fundamentals of Gas Turbine Engines

Helicopter Mechanic School

NALCOMIS Database Processing

Technical Publications Library Management

Corporals Course

Sergeants Course

Firefighting School

Aviation Water Survival School

Helicopter Crew Training

All this training was anywhere from 1 week to 6 months long. I've got 9 years in MOS, 3 years aircrew experience, and rank associated bonuses to credits. I go in to do my follow up with the adviser tomorrow, but at first glance he tried to get me to do a bunch of different tech certifications because a lot of what I have won't give me anything towards my degree.

It sucks, but I'm focused on that degree so I've got to roll with the punches and sit in class with a bunch of youngins like you.

Your school system went back on the first? They must've gotten out early. We got out June 28 (or somewhere around there) and we go back the week after Labor Day, whatever that is. I'll still be on at all the normal times though. 5pm-2/3am at least , and I've got it installed at school, so I'll be able to slip it in for 45min stints when I have free time.

Not all of them... not yet.

Funny story from before I got married. I met this chick while she was on vacation the summer of 2001. We kept in touch, but when I deployed Sept 19, 2001, the email and stuff on the boat was limited so we couldn't talk as much. Anyway, at some point they gave us about 2 weeks of unrestricted email so people could talk to loved ones back home (before we started doing the dangerous stuff ). Anyway, she apparently met some guy who was in an ROTC program at the school she was at. He was pumping her full of all kinds of BS, telling her he knew all kinds of stuff but couldn't tell her any of it, that he even knew the assignments for all the deployed units and all kinds of crap. I just laughed, sent a nice reply and never spoke to her again. I found it really funny that a college freshman, just out of high school in his first year of ROTC knew all the governments secrets, and she was dumb enough to believe him.

You've got a great field, you're gonna meet a lot of cool people. Have fun with it.

And the schools down here go back early (and get out early) so they have more time to prepare the students for the
