I'm playing nice. The emphasis was for emphasis, not emotion.
But you're right, it's not entirely like a flashlight, but that's closer than a well balanced sword. The point is, it's not like ANYTHING we know of, because, well...it isn't anything we know of, is it? It's an impossible weapon. Light doesn't stop. Any real rationale is going to have holes because the weapon itself is impossible. It's speculation. But that's the reason lightsabers aren't just a sword, and why it's dangerous for non-jedi just to start playing around with them, at least according to JD Wiker over at Wizards of the Coast. And then there are game balance reasons, and then, the reason I know you'll agree with....non-jedi with lightsabers is cheesy munchkinism.

Actuley light sabers are not impossible. imagen talking about computers to people 100 years ago. everyone would think your nuts and probably throw rocks at you. same idea with the light saber. just because we can't make one now dose not mean its impossible. give someone enough time and resources i bet they will come up with a working saber at some point.

just wanted to clear that up.

Belarrn yes but you are talking about maneuvering around a principle of physics that at the moment is somewhat immuteable. Sooo while all things are possible, it's unlikely enough to use the word, like faster than light travel.

Corellian Cowboy...exactly....

Collision with matter does not mean mass. An energy field weighs nothing. For instance, lightsabers have a near perfect conservation of energy, according to some geek-theory or another and only lose energy when that field is disrupted, expending massive amounts of energy, hence the heat, and nifty cutting process. By the by, if any of my physics seem off to you, explain why I'm stupid by all means. I never got past Physics 1 in college and I'm bad at math, so you're getting most of this interpretation from a layman's oversimplified understanding (or lack thereof).

All this talk about light sabers and weight and what not means it is time once againfor the Chewbacca Defense.

Ladies and Gentleman of this supposed jury I have one final thing I want you to consider. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that, that does not make sense. Why would an eight foot tall Wookiee want to live on Endor with a bounch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself what does this have to do with this case? Nothing, ladies and getleman it has nothing to do with this case. Ladies and gentlemen I am not making any sense, none of this makes sense. And so you have to remember when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the emancipation proclamation....does it make sense? No....Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury , it does not make sense. If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit!

Now look at the monkey...look at the monkey

Monkey! Monkey! Monkey!

*dances a jig*

V E E L A "her royal hawtness"
I am Jack's Smirking Revenge. I am Jack's Ignored Profession.
Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.
