I was just thinking...Slicers fiddel with the electronics in guns to make then faster/do more damage....So why cant slicers fiddel with droids to say make theyre attakc better or give tehm better resists? or let them slice factorys so that they run thru a scematic faster or maby allow them to slice certain harvestors like wind gens and solar gens to make them collect faster. It would open slicing up to alot of new possabilitys other then wepons and armor which at one time or another everyone will have sliced and we will be out of work untill theyre armor falls apart. just and Idea please comment and please no flames.

You shouldn't get flamed for this, except that the idea of Smugglers mucking with Droids has been brought up a lot in the past. Along those same lines, the idea of slicing bikes has also been suggested.


I think that most smugglers will tell you that theydon't necessarily want more things to slice, but want actual smuggling! We can already slice weapons, armor, terminals, containers, and some doors. Rather have some interesting, risky smuggler missions now!

I was thinking about the wanted level system, and an idea for slicing. Smugglers may have a certain way to slice, so if a patrol catches someone for an illegal sliced weapon they could trace it back to the person who sliced it.


In a perfect system this would be an awesome idea, but with the amount of sliced weapons out there, and slicers who will make thier money off of it, it would hurt them to be constantly hunted.


Either that, or they will be very selective of who they slice for.

just thought of this:


how about we make slicing weapons/armour make level appropriate. as in: have the min CL requirements of a weapon be the set targets of slicing-skill needed to slice that weapon.


CL 0-20: Slicing 2

CL 21-40: slicing 3

CL 41-60: Slicing 4

CL 60+: Master smuggler


how does this sound to you guys? was merely a quick thought...

Nice idea, but to fix the fact that I don't know of any cl55 or greater weaps, make it so only master smuggler can slice master profession weapons.

yeah, that thought occured to me as well...


we could make it:


Novice: 0-10


slicing 1: 11-20


slicing 2: 21-30


slicing 3: 31-40


slicing 4: 41-50


Master: everything else.



still gives master too little, but like i said, was merely a thought that will, in no way, be implemented(if i know the devs'actions well enough)...

to encourage people to seek out master smugglers, and to make more people want to spend the more skillpoints to get more customers.

edit: you could say: to promote mastersmuggler

Then you'd alienate those poor underappreciated Slicers with only Slicing 4, which would make them cry.


People already look for Master Smugs to do their slicing. How would this make it any different?

That's because there are none, as 54 is the single Elite mastery level, and the thought behind the certs was supposedly to allow single Elite masters to use anything (to be able to level the other Elite profession if they wish, I think).

I don't know... I wouldn't really give any significance to the levels apart from the significance they already forced upon everyone. Just don't like them I guess - there's the "LVL54 ROGUE LFG" thing, and the fact that, if you're not the highest level (especially in your slicing proposal example), you won't be able to compete with the highlevel people... I'm just more of a skill fan. Even more of a player skill fan than a character skill fan really.
