Says the idiot who specifically implicated Jedi and Bounty Hunters for the current situation... look at the line I quoted, does that sound like someone who plays nice with others? You sound like the kind of Smuggler who isn't happy if anyone gets anything before you. Don't blame Bounty Hunters because they got some love.

Saying that, my guild has been fantastic at keeping my interest in the game. I've just completed my second Pilot mastery, dropped all my Bounty Hunter/Commando skills and picked up Shipwright, and actually have something to do when I'm on and not playing CoH or GW.
I haven't done a single thing to do with my Smuggler skills in about a month, but I can't bring myself to drop them...
However, I have seen that there are places where there are things that are fun and work properly. I love piloting as it's twitch based, and *fingers crossed* immune from the 'I'm a Jedi give me the uberest skills' crowd. There are no 'I win' buttons either.
Shame that Smuggler is effectively dead for me, but they still have 4 weeks to show me some improvement.

Errr... as a BH and a Smuggler..... wrong.
BH recently got some love that wasn't even asked for in mission loot, which was really a way to get us to stop focusing on player jedi.
Every profession has something they can complain about. It's not as if we're dealing with a dev team that cares here.
I been watching "Firefly" on SciFi because it's been more fun than playing this game lately. I may get the urge to come back in a week or two, but I'm undecided at the moment.

From what I've seen, there are a lot more smugglers now then before the CU, but it's a completely different crowd.
Reason to be a smuggler before CU was because it wasa unique, underpopulatedprofession and feign death and slicing were useful abilities. You were basically a smuggler to be "different".
Reason to be a smuggler after CU is that it's a FOTM combat profession, or at least combat-dabbling profession.
Personally, as a smuggler for a year-and-a-half now, I'm liking smuggler less and less post-cu. Yes, I'm a lot more powerful in combat, but it's less unique, and less fun overall.

I'm a long-time bounty hunter and long-time smuggler (close to 1.5 years on both). I think the frustration with regards to bounty hunters from the smuggler's perspective is that those PVP kiddies who are constantly looking for the next FOTM and don't mind making a mockery of the game ran roughshot over smuggler by finding abuses for things like feign death, concussion shot, and last ditch, then scream for nerfs to those, the end result being that they get those abilities nerfed for "real" smugglers, making the game less fun to play in the name of pvp balance. *That* is the complaint.
As far as sob stories about the poor poor bounty hunter profession, I don't agree with that. While it's true that bounty hunter was never part of an optimal pvp template prior to the cu, and now it most certainly is, bounty hunter was always a fun and viable profession with unique weapons, unique abilities, and a fun mission system. I've certainly enjoyed it. I admit to occasionally grumbling about broken bounty hunter missions and the steep skill point requirements, but I've never considered bounty hunters to be overlooked or "unloved" so to speak, and now with the changes to bounty hunter loots things have just gone overboard imho. If you like combat, there's almost no justification for not being a bounty hunter now.
Oh, and you don't reflect well on yourself or the profession you are representing by calling people names, that is extremely childish. And it's extremely ironic that after doing so you'd accuse others of "not playing well with others". That is certainly the pot calling the kettle black.

Please don't blame the Bounty Hunters for your misfortune - we didn't have it so good for a long time. If it ever cost 217 of your 250 skill points (and the apprentice points for THREE profs) to master Smuggler; if slicing xp was ever as hard to get (and bugged) as Investigation XP); if the "new missions" turned out to be less worthwhile than the ones you have because of the antics of another profession... then you might call it whining.
You don't seem to know what "whining" is - so let me tell you. Whining is when a Smuggler complains because another profession got its needed fix before Smugglers did. Alienating other players isn't going to get your revamp any faster - if anything, you'll piss off people who otherwise might have supported you. Maligning other professions is not going to get your revamp any faster - if I were a Developer, the last thing I'd want to do is spend my time fixinga profession full of people like you, who can't be happy if anyone else's profession is working, who want to drag everyone else down, and who whine about others allegedly "whining".
In case that was too many words for you to grasp, let me boil it down: Leave us out of it. The time it took to "fix" BH wouldn't have done much for smuggler - unless you think a Dev could have revamped your prof in a weekend of free time. We're not to blame for the delays in the Smuggler revamp - tell it to the Devs. It's getting to the point where, even though I'm a Smuggler myself and have been a Master for about a year, I'm starting to think that this profession is the last thing the Devs should waste their time on, if this is the sort of person they'd be helping.
I'm pissed after waiting two years for the Smuggler revamp too - but I don't blame my fellow players for it. Only an idiot would do that.
There's a phrase for people like you: "Does not play well with others". You probably still see it on your report card, don't you?

It's kinda sad really, I dont even want to try and respond to the "stay positive" or "here is a new idea for smuggling" threads that the new guys post, the old guard has been there and done that. Take a look at threads from a year ago and not much has changed...well the community has been blow apart, that much has changed.

There are still many around. But they are doing other things, because there is no smuggling to do. Some spice, but that is done in factories, which makes you a manufacter or some such. What do you need us for. Slicing put out and add and offer some cash and you will get offers.
Otherwise it is wait and see.
I have found a place a resource provider. A middle man to get what other need. Not really smuggling, but at least as good a questing.
