Please help me get this message out. It's unheard of for them to add a second way for people to lose their weapon in game (or armor). They already have condition. It's ridiculous to make us now have a chance to "break" it altogether. No it is not acceptable that I will need to find a smuggler before I can fight again! What do you do if you're in the MIDDLE of a big battle, PvP or not? That's just unheard of.
What they should do INSTEAD is the following:
Do NOT make my weapon "break" to the point of being non-functional.
DO make my weapon "lose the slice" until I get the slice fixed by a Smuggler.
Basically, this means that the better the slice, the higher chance that that slice will "unslice" itself during combat.
Honestly, I think my solution isn't even right, but I have this feeling that they won't take away this whole "weapon breaking" feature.
Look here. The percentage is "very low". Does that mean 1%? 1% means 1 shot out of 100 will break your weapon. How long does it take YOU to fire 100 shots?
If you don't like the risk, don't carry the reward.
Carry a backup for crying out loud!!!
Actually, the RISK for slicing is ALREADY in the game. You ever look at the weapon condition on a sliced weapon? It goes down VERY fast.

Don't want the pain, don't take the gain. Don't want to be hunted by BH's, don't go jedi. Don't want to have a weapon fail in combat, don't get it sliced. Don't want to get incaped during a spice downer, don't do spice. Don't want to fire a single shot and be nearly incaped, don't use last ditch.
This is yet another "risk" added, though. There has already BEEN a risk in game for some time now.
I'm honestly (and disappointingly) surprised to find the number of people who support this hindrance to the game. ANY percentage is too much when it comes to this. MAYBE (at the very worst) I could see a weapon getting "jammed" for a few seconds every now and then. But we're talking about becoming completely DISABLED until fixed. That means you can't do ANYTHING until it is fixed. No, I'm not against carrying a backup weapon. But.. bah, nevermind.

Someone back me up here, but wasn't that confirmed as a myth by a dev years ago? Something like that was intended but they never implemented any code to do that?

Your right. It's a myth. Slicing never had any effect on condition.
PuP's do, though.

Speed slices seemed to cause quicker decay just because they were firing faster. More shots = more decay, obviously. There is no increased decay due to slicing. As mentioned, powerups *do* increase condition decay.
Your weapon will not break as if it had 0 condition. It will be temporarily disabled until you can find a smuggler to fix it. The patch notes mentioned a 100% customized gun having an average time between breaking of two weeks. Two weeks is not a long time at all. Granted, if you play 8 hours a day every day, it'll be more often. But, there are reasons people carry multiple weapons. Always carry a backup. I've been telling my guildmates this since the In Concept notes were released:
"When the new slicing system hits, I'll be able to choose what I slice, but there will be a chance of breakage. Always carry an unsliced backup so you have a weapon you can use until you see me again."
Slicing is not required. If you do not want to deal with the downside, you don't get the upside.

All I need to know, is will an ADK stop the slice from breaking? I DO NOT want to spend the 3 million to get a krayted uber weapon, ADK it, slice it with an amazing slice PUP it, then have it BREAK...

No, it won't. Better make friends with a good Smuggler now, and avoid the rush.

Oh, for crying out loud....
Having your weapon "break" from a slice is not the same thing as having it break from loss of condition. You will not suddenly lose your "krayted uber weapon" because of "breakage" from a slice. If it breaks, you take it to a smuggler, and you can use it again. Slicing does not affect condition. Your ADK will allow you to keep that krayted weapon forever.

Same thing happens to guns here in the real world, they can jam and break during combat (especially if someone tried to modify them). And what happens then? The other dude, with the working gun, kills you because your gun jammed or broke. You don't expect to modify *anything* in life and not risk a consequence. And one final thing, I'll bet anything that when your opponent's gun breaks during combat and you kill him because he can no longer fire, you won't be screaming "unfair!!!!". You'll be saying "YES! I love this now!"

Will do if I could figure out which server he is on.

Yhea figured it out after I wrote that ![]()
On a rping factor this is a good thing. I mean look at toy companies. They make an insanly complicated thing that breaks and then you have to shell otu money to get a replacement part. If I was modifing weapons in real life I'd want to try to put something in where they would need to come back for a "tune up"
