Not used in anything. I think we have to wait for the next portion of the quest.
That could have been a GREAT idea from devs since smuggler are spice crafters....
And not even able to determine what this spice is....
You know, a story arch where some professions are mandatory if you want to complete the quest !
Heavily encrypted datapad -> get it decrypted by a DE
Spice -> get it refined by a smuggler using the schematics given by the DE when the dapatad was decrypted
Then you could be able to craft a new type of spice
Seems that would have been too much "smuggler related" and that would have give another taste and interest for spices and spice tree (or even master box)
But seems it's not over yet, let's wait and hope something using our skills....

Actually, everything in this quest smells of Smuggler skills. Slicing was actually more along the lines of hacking than snipping some wires on a weapon so we could have been able to decipher the datapad. We have the spice tree, so we should have been able to figure out what the spice was... or at least what it did.
In other words, they gave a Smuggler quest to the entire playerbase. No biggie, except we have no advantage in it.

Smells like the "smuggler alliance" faction in JTL right?

How many of you have done this yet? There is absolutely NOTHING to it.
For neutrals you talk to a lady in Theed cantina, fly to Rori, drive 6km to a wreck and as you drive by you automatically complete that part, you don't have to exit your bike or even slow down or fight any of the reds I saw in the area.
Then back to Theed Cantina where you're sent back to Rori Narmlee to talk to a guy in the med center who sends you to Tatoonie Mos Eisely and a building that you enter and as you walk past the skeleton on the floor you automatically finish the quest.
That's IT, nothing to do at all but go here and go there, you don't have to fight, decode, open anything....it's a big fat NOTHING.
Oh, and did I mention no reward? You end up with 3 items in your pack that just take up space and have no further use that I can figure. But if you delete them are you screwed for some unimplimented follow-on?
Wow - when you outline it like that, that's very bad. They've been having good publishes lately but this one - oy...
And the stink they raised with the "snappy movement" change make a taco fart look like a warm tropical breeze.

MMMMkay. But that's why it's a STORY ARC. You're doing this to be part of a story. engaged in a plot line. you could have chosen to kill the mercenaries by the wreck. I know I did, because I didn't fly right into the datapad/spice zone. Nobody said a story had to have combat.
and can anyone say Film Noir? I feel like I should set my Radeon to black and white and turn up the contrast. Go investigate this, shady characters, going to meet someone and you find them dead on the floor? pretty good story so far.
