Gooney,
"Artisans do not make art." is some kind of an answer?
There was no semantics arguement here. Artisans DO what their name implies. Commandos DO what their name implies. Dancers DO what thier name implies. Musicians DO what thier name implies.
Smugglers do NOT DO what their name implies.
Semantics? Sorry this CSR doesn't get it in the least.
???
Think the one that doesnt get it here is you my friend.
Ill try to help you there.
1. Read the ticket from the first poster (Move to step 2 when you understand)
2. Read the reply from the CSR (Move to step 3 when you understand)
3. Look up the meaning of the word "Semantic"
4. Evaluate the posters ticket, and the answer from the CSR, keeping in mind the definition of "Semantic".
5. Form an idea of what exactly the point of the first post was...I'll give you a hint. In this case the point was to flame a CSR.
That is what my personal replies were aimed at defusing or attempting to point out.I happen to be of the opinion that wasting a CSRs time on "Protests, whining, or complaining" keeps them from doing what they are supposed to be doing...aiding customers with real in-game problems.
I think you'll find that semantics are indeed a part of the first post, but they are not the point of the first post at all.
Sorry, got off on a tangent but you addressed your post to meso I felt compelled to answer.
I happen to agree that Smugglers should indeed Smuggle, and someday I hope they will be able to etc., etc.

Just what did you expect him to say? The state of Smugglers is hardly new news. And strictly speaking you can "smuggle". In the game that is implemented by giving the smuggler a higher chance to avoid getting dinged on a stormtrooper scan.
Now is this "smuggling" something of value in the game? No.
Is there better ways to implement smuggling? Yes.
Is there anything currently being done about this on the dev side? Unknown
There will be a number of revamps in the future, we've all heard that before so it is not new news either.
The CSR gave you a pretty good answer in my opinion. Its not like CSRs have any power over the code or skill-set of professions anyway. I'm actually pretty surprised he even bothered to answer your ticket.

I do a better job of Smuggling with a droid or a high rank than Ido as a Smuggler. Let's not forget that the scans, to date, have been more about what faction you belong to than what you're carrying.
The CSR gave an idiotic answer and made themselves sound both ignorant and incompetant. Although the tactic may not be the best because of the rules of the game, the answer was at best moronic.

I don't think it's abuse of the bug reporting system though and I'm not all that sure he didn't submit it as a bug...I did so I guess I'm assuming he did as well. *shrugs*
Still, the answer made no sense. A reasonable answer would have been; "We know that Smugglers don't smuggle and it will be addressed in the future."
I agree, even a simple "this is not the proper forum for this type of discussion" would have been more appropriate without the CSR having to make any comments on the game and it's skills.
The real problem is this is yet another example of an SOE employee talking down to one of it's customers. 90% of all their replies and responses to players are baseless arguments and condescending speeches. This CSR response is a perfect example of not only what is wrong with the CSR system, but their customer relations in general. You can buy a $.99 item at Walmart and get better customer relations, and many people here have piad hundreds of dollars to this point to play this game.
