You do know that if you cancel it,you wont get the veteran ship(lady luck).

Well I have still 3 months left pre-paid. So if they get their fingers out of their behinds I'd get the Lady Luck - but to be honest I can't say cruising around in that vessel would help too much.
And i don't want to CANCEL the account - just DISCONTINUE it until there came some love for us smugglers. That's what I wonder, is it possible to discontinue one's account - without deleting your character?

It is possible Surseance, as long as you don't delete the toon before you go. You should be able to cancel, go for a time , come back and resubcribe and find you char there waitng for you still. Not sure if it would be there after12 months or more, but it says aomething ib the cancellation screen about a definate 3 month period. After that it may be lost because of DB needs or something like that

Aha, great.. so basically I just have to stop paying, and wait up till 3 months? Well, money saved is money earnt!

You can have your account inactive for a long time without having your character deleted. I just came back after cancelling in November, so that's at least 7 months. Wait until JTS comes out and is fixed, wait until the smuggler revamp, wait until whenever, but if you're tired of paying for an unfinished product, don't. Your master smuggler will still be here if you decide to come back.
Funny thing though, I came back expecting the smuggler to have seen at least a little attention. What do I find? Panic Shot got nerfed AGAIN and spices are about as desirable as something you scrape off the bottom of your shoe. Didn't take me long to get bitter again.

I think I dropped Master Smuggler around February/March. I had been one for a long time and just needed a break.
Since then I have been a commando and BH, hardly the most effective of professions.
Maybe just try taking a break from smuggler.
Either way hope you finally get to be the smuggler you and the rest of us thought we would be

Yes. If you don't delete your character. SOE will keep it for atleast 3 months. After that they won't guarentee it. I just recently switched credit cards I was using and cancelled and then re-activated. I recall that this messege came up on cancellation. So 3 months guarenteed and after that you take your chances. I have heard people coming back after 6 months though and still having there character.

I know how you feel. I came back and my two friends came back with me. We were gone for about 6 months. We were having fun, even with all the broken parts (heck, we were all playing broken professions). The interview with Haden Blackman was too much for us too. I don't like being blamed for the delays. SOE does not have the intestinal fortitude to stand up and say they screwed up, big time. My two friends have cancelled their accounts. I am just holding mine open to dump a load of credits into maintenance for our structures near Theed, then I will likely cancel mine as well (I had mine active the6 months I was gone before). I will not bein gameuntil SOE fixes things or starts respecting the playerbase/consumers. If neither thing happens, thenI will give all we own to our friends and saymy final goodbyes. 
Thanks to all the smugglers who have answered questions for me, trained me, and laughed with me. Thanks to Veela for just being cool. Thanks to Caylin for working your ass off and getting spit on. If there is anything I can do to help Caylin, send me a PM or email. I will be checking the boards regularly to see if anything actually happens.
Thanks to all the Commandos as well. Even though this is the Smuggler forum, I know a thanks to Garvin is welcome here. Garvin, if there is anything I can do to help you, send me a PM or email as well. You have also worked your ass off and gotten the Emporer's spittle in return.
I hope to be back on Scylla someday.
