So does getting a massive amount of players in an area that people normally do NOT travel ok? What if we get enough people to crash the server? Everyone gather at 0,0??

(not a suggestion...just a question)

Sort of. There was a discussion about some parts of this policy change a month or two back when it was first dropped.

TH said that the concern was that these protests/big events in areas that were already high traffic said that they were causing an inordinate ammount of stress on specific processors/local memories in the server clusters that they effect. This is a legitimate concern. This game wasn't built for having one or two processors with one or two gigs of memory handling the network traffic for a couple thousand people. Perhaps in the future they will be able to do better dynamic allocation of cluster resources to handle problems like this, but if things are statically or even somewhat dynamically allocated... Everyone being in one place is going to crash a server cluster.

I believe it was said that when things do start getting to big (like protests) GMs will pop in and kindly request that players disperse. And that failure to comply will result in dire consequences for peoples' accounts.

I can understand that some people may react to this like the authoritarian regime is stepping in to stomp out all complaints and concerns, but there is a valid concern for providing uninterrupted 23/7 game service that this specific policy addresses.

But that is just my (perhaps naive) interpretation.

So I won't fault SOE for this. Just for that revamp we've been waiting a year or so for.

Yeah, I saw that too and started laughing. So let me get this straight...k...You design a weapon and its animation. Then you assign it to a profession right.....Then you make it a violation for me to use that weapon unless nobody is around. Yet this is a weapon intended to be used on other people right? (Scratching Head) I don't get it...

.......it just keeps getting better and better. Maybe there's a hiddenline that prevents smugglers from smuggling?

Harassment is defined as specifically targeting another player or "group of players" (Smugglers?)to harm or "inconvenience" them. (Does that include "I cannot smuggle and my character isthus inconvenienced?") Harassment can take many forms, as it goes to the "state-of-mind of the person or group of persons on the receiving end of the action" (Um, That would be us, the paying customers of the Smuggler community).

How do I report SOE to a CSR for harrassment?

Why would someone want to empesonate a SOE or CSR person. That would just be silly. Then we could ask them when about our professsion. Really, Would you go around and admit you were a Sony employee?

I would buy some body armor before impersonating either of them hehe.

Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

ah but you see if they impersonated a soe/la person...there would be a large ammount of people gather round (the protest thing) and no doubt some commandos with flame throwers...so all sets of people would get banned

well id be pretty pissed if was walking through any npc city and a bunch of people were protesting.....ugh and i guess if there are protestors in a pc city, then the politicians would have to ban them. the protesting thing i understand. i havent experienced a large scale commando battle in any largely populated area so i cant complain about that. but the entire harassment issue, im wondering what they consider harassment. i hope there is some sort of unblinking eye that logs all dialogue, to prevent bullspit from going on for any reason.
