I completely agree, spice was mined and created by slaves of the hutta.

A very valid point and subject of a much heated debate: "Why should we have to pay $20-40 to make our Day 1/Launch profession work like it should?"
And you're right. We shouldn't have to buy an additional expansion pack to make our profession work. There should be "ground based" smuggling between planets. Should it be as expansive, detailed, and fun as with the expansion? No, or who would buy the expansion and why would there be a need for it?
The point is valid, there should be ground based smuggling for the smugglers who don't want to buy JtL not just because of the cost or details but because we're a profession able to be picked up since launch and it's not fair to force us to pay an additional 40 bucks to become fixed and have the features available.
As for the original poster....Teriffs...Taxes...Banned goods. YES YES YES. This doesn't restrict the play any more than it should. I think Thunderheart once mentioned a large concern was the statement of "We're going hunting/on a raid...should we get a Smuggler to go with us?" As it is, no, they don't (aside from a base take down). But if these taxes, teriffs, and contraband scans were in, then yes, Smugglers would become just as important to people who wish to have an edge in combat asyour Medic professions.
I could go on but I suggest you read Smuggler_Caylin's Revamp Doc in the Important Links, Guides, FAQs... stickied at the top. Many of the ideas you suggest have been in it for quite some time and expanded. A very good read.
Very good though! I liked everything except the spicesI don't think we should craft them at all as smugglers. Smugglers are transporters of the illicit and illegal, not "street chemists" or drug lords. That's what a Hutt is

read it and it farexceeds (in a good way) what i had envisioned. cheers to you on your outlook for us to be duped into buying an expansion pack just to get ours.
/agree on your point on us making drugs- we move it not make it
I'm confused...who were referring to? I think I brought up the broad point of moving spice, not crafting it. As far as JtL is concerned and our revamp, my view is that there should be expanded features for JtL within Smuggler (since we'resupposed to bespace based) but the ground game shuold be fixed and enhanced with the revamp as well, including ground based smuggling of spice and illicit goods.
Think of it like....you can do the same thing on the gound without Jump to Lightspeed but with JtL you get what's included in the ground game in addition to Imperial blockades in space or pirates trying to jump your ship to get the shipment or other neat goodies.
But by all means, there has to be a fun ground game for Smugglers like there SHOULD have been in the first place. It's just that JtL gets more features like an expansion should.
You shouldn't need to buy an expansion to maketheprofessionyou've beenplaying for ayear and a halfwork like it's supposed to.

I really want to do smuggler but I have been having some doubts lately, what going to be in this smuggler revamp, and when is it planned for release?
Wouldn't we ALL like to know those particular bits of information. Seriously.
If this is another newbie post...cool...glad I could help inform. If not, then...you're just mean ![]()
But again, no one knows except that the Smuggler Revamp was scheduled for "post JtL" then "post Combat Revamp" then "post 20076 shortly after the coming of Gozer the Destructor from the future sea of death".
