Hi Guys, I'm a weaponsmith on Gorath and I want to pick up smuggler so that I can slice my weapons and then sell them on my vendor(people just dont want to take a risk on unsliced weapons anymore). When I look at the smuggler profession, after slicing 4 the smuggler gets no more visible benifits to slicing. I've also been told that a box 4 slicer can slice things just as good as a master smuggler. I am just curious if this information is correct or if there is indeed a benifit to being a master smuggler when it comes to slicing?

Well, I do both really. I keep a bag full of slicing components, but I also give a large discount if the customer supplies all the parts. Those parts are all looted by the way, so if you are wondering if you'll have to make them then no, you don't. The way I look at it, if the customer supplies the parts, then that's less often I have to go vendor search and run around to vendors resupplying my stock.

In today's smuggling world, with regard to slicing, the tools are the key. The problem is, the tools have become very rare. So good luck with your slicing work, get ready to pay out the ya - ya for the tools.

Also... I highly suggest that if you ever get stocked with armor slice parts... Check the vendor search to see what the replacement parts would cost you before you quote a price. For instance on the armor break slice, I make sure to charge enough to where I can replace the paddings I use and make a little on top. If I can't resupply my paddings right after I get done slicing, the price goes from high to insane. Also, I highly suggest either becoming BH yourself, or making a supply deal with a few friendly BH so you don't end up having to pay the price gouging spammers or merchants for the parts. Myself, I won't pay any more than 5k per simple toolkit, or any more than 50k for ICB's or DTA's. Right now shock paddings are going through the roof, and finely crafted toolkits seem to fluxuate a lot. I try not to pay more than 15k per FCT, but I have payed 30k at times when I was low.

The only thing I'd add is to keep a written list of your slice costs and how much you'd charge a client to use one of your own slice components in your bio plus common slice costs (12pct Speed, 75% Armor Break, etc), and keep it updated. It helps a little to tell people to examine you for prices rather than list what each thing is going to cost in /tell.
Also, I found it helpful to do:
12spd slice = approx. 13.8% DPS boost
3/8/3 slice = approx. 11% DPS boost
4/4 slice = approx. 8% DPS boost
Just for the newbs who still don't get how weapon slicing effects dps.
