Thread: Bad news for Novice Smugglers(?): New Loot = Fewer Locked Container drops?

On the upside, more people killing NPCs should mean more locked containers floating around.. unless, of course, the drop rates have been lowered on some of them. I've gotten 4-5 off a few hundred dead NPCs in the last couple days.

But yeah, getting Slicing I was the worst bit of leveling I've done in this game. Couldn't buy em when I had 30K to my name, and sitting around trying to loot them was frustratingly inconsistent. Would be better to swap this with terminal slicing, then you could at least be assured of making some progress, no matter how slow and boring it may be.

Ok, this is just an observation from someone who regularly makes it a point to try to loot Locked Containers to basically give away to Novice Smugglers (1 cred each on my grinding vendor).

Anyway, last night, after a few days of chasing down Valarians on Tat, and coming away with 3 Gambling Tables for my trouble, along with ALOT of Party Posters, I headed to my house and completely emptied my inventory. I then headed to my favorite static spawn of Meatlumps right outside of Cnet to try to grab some Locked Containers to stick on my vendor for some worthy Novice Smuggler.

I started with my inventory reading [0/60]. After 30-45 minutes of killing and looting Meatlumps, I had a full inventory, yet I didn't have a single Locked Container (when, before the new loot, I would've had 5-10 in this amount of time). Most of my loot consisted of new schematics...14 Droid Body schems, 9 Street Lamp schems, 7 Radio schems.

So, in just my small sampling, on a mob that I used to regularly milk for Locked Containers, this tells me that Locked Container drops are down again. Meaning Novice Smugglers will once again HAVE to shell out large amounts of credits just to earn Slicing 1.

Does frustrate anyone else? To know that Novice Smugglers are the only non-Jedi profession to be gated by the god-forsaken loot table? Either you spend days upon days to find something that actually drops Containers, or you shell out 5k-10k EACH to buy them on the bazaar or a private vendor. How is this fair?

For those not in the know this seems to be the old deadeye decoder system. These mobs you are talking about aka thugs were the ones that you had to kill for deadeye decoder parts. I would say shift the spawns you are hunting and killing.

My number one gripe with locked containers. Is their pathetic payout. Bad loots are one thing, but a locked container should have a decent chance of paying out something halfways decent.

Novice Smuggler here (Eclipse Server) and I have noticed a substantial drop in the number of LC's as well. I mostly farm the spawns on Tatooine.

I also noticed that some of the spawns which were dropping posters, viewscreens, and printer parts like crazy on Monday were dropping mostly broken items like electrobinoculars and that microscope looking thingy on Tuesday.

Anyway, please feel free to leave your offers for Locked Containers and mole clamps with our Receptionist

I've been killing Sleemos for paint kits parts and have way too many locked containers now. I've been saving for the first novice smuggler I see, but havn't spotted one in over a week. If you're on Starsider and want them, send me a tell please, so I can get the damn things out of my inventory.

You can offer them to my Drop Box vendor (WP in sig) for 1 cred each.

I'll turn around and list them on my Grinding vendor for the same 1 cred. I refuse to gouge grinding Novices for 1000s of credits for a mere 250 XP.

I've gotten quite a few containers, but maybe that's just me. definitely not n00b friendly mobs though. Tuskens and ST's mainly.

Well, the word from everyone I've talked to seems to be containers are still dropping at the same rate (a few were getting a whole bunch of containers and no new loot). I'll keep my eye on this anyway though.
