Thread: Potential Smuggler Event: Revised v 0.3

First, I'd prefer to get RP cities/guilds involved. They'll be the backbone of the event.

Players that aren't members of participating guilds could potentially be members of the posse, or the people that recieve the deliveries.

That's right. The game mechanics don't exactly encourage the GCW, either, but on Starsider some groups have been putting together some huge ground and space RP events that are about fifty times as fun as your average daily activities. It sucks that we have to do this all by ourselves, but if you get a good one together, trust me, it's completely worth the hassle. There's no need to be negative about other players trying to have some fun.

I wouldnt rule-out camping the shuttleports, though - that would be a standard security tactic and should be allowed. The Smuggler has other ways of entering the cities. Also, the Smuggler could send a "friend" ahead on the shuttle to see if there's anybody waiting for him.

The problem with camping shuttleports is that some people take a while to load. If there was a gank squad waiting at the shuttleport, a loading smuggler would be kind of effed.

Yeah, but it would be a stupid Smuggler that would shuttle into a city that's looking for him, just as it would be a dumb move in real life to take a scheduled flight into a city that's looking for you. Maybe no camping the starports, because you have to use them to get from one planet to another, but local shuttleports should not be off-limits. Maybe just allow non-combatants to camp the shuttleports, as a lookout, but not to attack. Either way, as a Smuggler, I would not shuttle directly into a city unless I really had to.

Yes, you're right. In Star Wars, Smugglers did not want to be hunted. However, we are not in Star Wars. We are people playing characters in Star Wars, and this is a Role Play Event. The Situation for the Event has been described. As players, we(the Smuggler Community) have been begging for Risks to take, and people to hunt us down in case of failure. Current mechanics only allow Jedi to be Hunted.

Thusly, I've set up a situation that capitalizes best on working portions of the game's mechanics that allow for as close to a Smuggling scenario as possible.

The Smuggler will transport items to certain places in which have been deemed banned/controlled/illegal. The "Police Forces" have been tipped off as to what's going on, but the Smuggler, doesn't get paid unless the deliveries are made. This means the Smuggler must choose between surviving and not making that big score, and going "all or nothing".

No offence, man, but I think my joke a couple weeks ago may be right. I'm afraid you may have soured. Just by reading your more recent posts, you're much more hostile. A break may be in order, you just seem tense. You need to chill a bit.

Hey - this is a great idea, and if you need support, let me know. I'd be willing to help any way I can, including taking a delivery or watching your back.

I agree with not camping starports - maybe the boundary could be the city gates - that way if the smuggler needs to get off world, and the group looking for him is camping the city gates, he could still blow past them or sneak in somewhere where the guards are spread thin.

This could be a lot of fun; I know I am interested.

Then again, as an Imperial Master Sergeant, I would just use starports in the Imperial towns, and depend on my brothers in the ST armor to cover me.

Note: Due to changes in the PvP system and removal of the TEF, it may no longer be possible for the Smuggler to have a posse to aid him. Revision upcoming.
