Someone had the nerve to ask me to do this too....

Said "I know its cheating but if you only do it a few times you wont get caught"

I though about it long and hard for all of .00001 seconds then replied....

"Uhmmm NO!"

I like my smuggler and don't plan on trying to get banned.

someone asked me to do this as well. i told him i'd slice it the normal way or not at all and he agreed to the normal way.

but having piqued my curiosity i went to the bazaar and bought a cdef & powerup to give it a whirl. 35% speed slice (speed power up) coincidence? but having removed the power up and checking the speed again, the numbers didn't match up (worse than the slice said). so i think what's happening is the slice thinks the powerup is part of the slice. the number appearing on screen showing the slice will be higher, not the actuall slice.

haven't repeated the experiment. (and destroyed the weapon)

so i'll put this in the same bin with the people who think quality of tools matters.

From what I understand, it only "works" with damage slices / damage power-ups.

But...yeah...until a dev says otherwise (yeah right), I'd chalk this up in the exploit category.

I'll admit I'm guilty of having done it lol

It only works for dmg slices. If you use a speed powerup and get a speed slice the the result will actually be worst then if you sliced it normally.

he wouldnt actually say who it was untraceable from but went on to say about the "double slice" exploit that some smugglers aparently got banned for.

I felt it was an exploit straight away and then went on to ask a csr in chat to confirm this.

I hate exploits with a passion, they ultimatly ruin games in the end and right now i dont know what to do.

I feel like pulling the plug and cancelling my account as this has made me very angry, i dont think i could report this person as they havent actually used the exploit and im sure screenshots of ingame chat wouldnt be admissable as evidence even if the devs would intervene in this case.

I think the thing that got me the most was that his attitude implied this is going on alot, that and the fact he is in my guiild.

it'll turn a 33% damage slice into like, a 35% damage slice. It's not an incredibly high increase of damage, but it DOES allow for you to get damage slices above 35% (even if only marginally).. and that can be pretty helpful on highdamage weapons.
