Thread: No mention of Smuggler revamp in timeline

To be honest, yes! At least it wouldn't surprise me at all. Maybe I've just missed it but have they finally released the documents about combat rebalance or anything they showed you in Austin?
Everything they are doing right now is behind the scenes. Nothing is released or cleared to be talked about yet. However, something that is supposed to be done by the end of this year is not going to take up all the time between now and next year. They have never focused on one thing for that long... though Jedi was close. They already have their revamp and it was expressed that they would not be getting much done to them to the extent all of you seem to be thinking. Such as another revamp dedicated to them in the next month or two. Pfff. Based on the information I have access to, that's not going to happen.

Actually, I think they need to give ID some more colors and emotes, and let's face it, it is far more important for IDs to have as much content as possible. Since we dont' smuggle, why is it important for us to be revamped? What is there to be revamped? I think it is important chefs get more food and politicians get more taxing authoritah, too. And I've heard rumours of a new hybrid that feeds off BH and Politician called Traffic Cop.
I also think it is important to make it easier for dancers and musicians to be AFK, and let's not forget the tumblers revamp, for this is very important. If it weren't for tumblers what would doctors in medical centers do? They would have to actually heal sick and wounded who need help and we can't have that, so I imagine they need help, too.
And since you must revamp jedi every time you revamp anything else, we can add several more jedi revamps into this mix. So I think in all honesty, we smugglers should do the right thing and not ask for a revamp until say, the year 2008.

Folks, do you honestly think that the release of JTL, the combat revamp and the GCW revamp are going to consume all the time between now and this time next year? There is more to their development cycle than that. Much more.
Remember Caylin that none of us have access to anything you see. We cannot be optimistic because we have time and again seen a promise for change and fixing and seen nothing except things breaking (crate bug). Our revamp promised the first month of live has never been done, or documented or designed. Everything has gotten in the way of any smuggler fixing. Instead of repairing the broken classes in the game, the developers introduced player jedi into the game against the original design specs of the game. They updated most of the other professions, except the first one promised a revamp. The only developer who showed any interest is doing so in his spare time.
Now, this is what we see, we see a half empty glass. Your half full glass is from what you have seen on the correspondents forum, what you heard at the Austin meeting, and what other communications you have had with TH and others from SOE. But remember, we have heard none of what you have and cannot because I'm sure you have your very own NDA. Our glass is half empty, and will remain so until the revamp, which we have no schedule for, have no design documents for, and only have promises, which have been broken in the past.
Now, don't mistake my post for me whining about no revamp. To the contrary, I love this game, I can't say I love the way SOE runs it, but I do love this game and the people in it who I interact with daily in my guild, and out in my galaxy. But, you yourself surely understand why people feel how they do. Take away every piece of inside information you have, remove yourself from ever having been a correspondent, then, make a judgement how you would think and feel about all the promises.
Now, I don't honestly believe that JTL, combat revamp and GCW revamp will take all the time betwene now and next year. To be blunt, I think it will take longer than that and they will add small changes here and there to various professions while months and months of revamp occur. How can you expect them to balance the galactic civil war, player combat, troubleshoot and repair JTL and still do any major profession publishes? It won't happen.

I'm not saying you should be optimistic but there is also no need to be absurd with all these statements of 'never' and 2006.
Even without the information I can get to, which isn't much in this situation, I still wouldn't say that the GCW revamp was all that they would do the whole of next year.
I wouldn't call it absurd as much as sarcastic, dejected and defeated. I don't think anyone really means any of the silly projections, they just don't believe the optomistic ones anymore. I'd be happy to be surprised by a revamp before next year this time, but I'm not counting on one. I'll still be playing till my server is turned off some day down the road.

Yeah,..I agree with Korrack here. Sarcastic remarks are about as close to an all out riot you will get out of us. I really like this game, and the expansion coming looks promising. I love smuggler,..I dropped master and picked up pure pistol only to come back to this brokent profession because,..damn if these forums don't make me proud to be broken. We are a tight knit bunch of rabid wolverines! You mess with one, you mess with all of us. I like that feeling,..and it crosses factional boundaries for the most part. Standing in the middle of a raid,..you pick out a (Master Smuggler) tag. Then its the two of you squaring off,..pistols first then fisticuffs ala TKM. And when he FD's,..you bow and grin and let him be cause thats the smuggler way,..live to fight another day.
Yeah..to quote stitch,.."We're family,..broken, but still good". Caylin, we are going to be absurd and pessimistic because we can't do anything else with our frustration. And I know your frustrated too, but a little more optimistic and thats what makes you great. If it wasn't for you,..we'd run amok.

...Included was new information about a loot revamp, as well as the galactic civil war expansion. Note, he said expansion. Did he misspeak, or will we have to pay for content that should have been in the game to begin with? He stated that all three of these projects should be completed by "this time next year," or July of 2005.
When I hear him say anexpansion of the GCW, I don't see it being an expansion like JTL is. Granted, the bottom line of most MMORPG'srequire the yearly revenue boosts that come from expansions so nothing is impossible. I guess I'm just optimistic and I hear that as "there is some evidence of the GCW today...but it stinks...so we're going to expand what's there and make it a lot better".
Personally, (and this is coming from someone that's never had ANY smuggler) I would like to see the smuggler revamp before the GCW. How can you give smugglers a role in the GCW before giving them a purpose in the game? Plus, I can't wait to hunt you ![]()
