I agree wholeheartedly, to the point of stealing that quote and slapping it in my sig.

My 2 credits

The vendor change is in response to a tremendous waste of time it takes to peruseall the empty driods only to find the one doird that is supposedto have what yo wnat be out opf stok.

The merchants beat the empty droids rmeoval by putting an item on salefor 99999999999 credits. Teh system sees a non empty vendor I see my clock ticking.

Replacing the TEF system will seperate the power gamer killing machines from the I don't want to be akilling machine Ijust want to pick grapes or some proflike that..

It will also reduce the amout of cross faction assistance being given. How many Imperial Colonels doyou see swapping war stories in the sterts?

I'll probably be on leave most of thetime anyway. Unless my crimes get me tossed out of the alliance.

The very sentiment of this thread makes me seriously question if I am asleep right now or not.

Having to search vendor after vendor after vendor looking for a 100+ speed engine should not be the extent of my evening logged into SWG.

I am a troop. My time and energy should be spent in the GCW. Now, when I need to be somewhere for my combat team, I can be there when they need me... instead of 15-25minutes later because of buff and shuttletimes.

You guys are nostalgic for punishment to the point of rediculousness. I pull no punches; it is rediculous.

Exactly. Just like Obi-Wan and Luke when they made two shuttle hops from Tatooine via Coronet to the Death Star and pwned Vader with less than 120 seconds of shuttle waits.

I love ya Axob, but this is whySWG is totally f***ed up. People want convenience over immersion in places whereit shouldn't BE convenient.

The wisdom, I believe, to cutting out difficulties and making things easy is doing it in the correct areas. To be honest, I haven't really put much thought into the effects of making vendors searchable, but I think that it is a change that makes sense. Before you scold me, consider in your mind that even in our own modern world you can search stores and products on the internet and buy them. It is not really a big deal.

Star Wars, to me, is excitement, and having to travel from empty vendor to empty vendor is the exact opposite of that. Sure it might change the way business is done, and in one way might might injure the crude and archaic breath of commerce that Star Wars is known for (i.e. Watto and his junk yard, the general inavailability of supplies in remote regions), but this IS NOT Commerce Wars Galaxies. I want to spend all of my time fighting... not shopping.

There are good ways to cut inconveniences in this game, and there are bad ways. If the inconvenience is a timesink, then it must be chopped off. If the inconvenience is something more pertinent to Star Wars, fun, and excitement... like an inconvenience in the form of a tough NPC enemy, then it is good for the game because it presents a challenge.

My last note on the subject is that there are indeed, and you cannot disagre with me here, multiple timesinks in this game. I'm not bashing timesinks, but have you ever considered that they are trimming timesinks to put in ones that are MORE exciting and MORE Star Wars than moping around a planet looking for a 100+ speed engine??? I would rather have a player spend their time fighting in the GCW, hanging out in a cantina, or sneaking past the law with sliced guns than deal with things that would be better cut out of the game. But that is just me.

I think we are missing eachothers' points here.

I 100% agree on vendor search. But "instant delivery" of said item kills crafters and merchants.

"Cutting out difficulties and making things easy in the correct areas" is exactly the wisdom in it.

Unfortunately, much of the playerbase wants to cut out ALL difficulties and make things easy in ALL areas.

That's where my problem lies. Sorry about the misunderstanding. My apologies.

People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Obi-Wan did not have to get up at 6am to go to work or put the kids to sleep at 7pm.

Again I agree with both sides (see my first post)but I just cant resist a good chop busting

Having to search vendor after vendor after vendor looking for a 100+ speed engine should not be the extent of my evening logged into SWG. to what i can read not one person in this thread has said they do not support the vendor change in one way or another. it is generally agreed that empty vendors and going around looking for one thing can take a rediculously long time and is beyond aggravating. I don't call a 5 minute shuttle wait nostalgic punishment. I call it a way to induce community interactivity

I am a troop. My time and energy should be spent in the GCW. Now, when I need to be somewhere for my combat team, I can be there when they need me... instead of 15-25minutes later because of buff and shuttletimes. And 15 minutes to get from a town on dantooine to a town oncorellia is gracious. these planets are in different systems and would take hours if not days to travelbetween them. but of course that is not realistic for a game. but 60 seconds inbetween shuttles is not realistic for the game either. If you are caught off gaurd by an assualt force, it should realistically take some amount of time to scramble a response.

You guys are nostalgic for punishment to the point of rediculousness. I pull no punches; it is rediculous.
It's not punishment, it's immersion. You want to be a solider and be somewhere almost instantly, play counter-strike or something. People whining about actually having to take time to do things are ruining many types of community immersion, and that is not good for an MMO

no flames intedned, but don'tsupport trashingthe game's community in favor of faster gratification. This game is not about the single player, it's about the community. And the community/friends is one of the few remaining reasons I play it.

Unfortunately I think the same people wouldn't mind one bit if they dumped a Blue Frog on every live server.

I think a large number of people who play the game are "casual players", people with a limited amount of online time at once, since they said the game would be "casual player friendly". All of the changes seem to be geared towards making it more so.

I'm one of those "casual players" and I was around on day 2 as well (day 1 server clog, grumble, grumble) and I know I hated just missing the ship and having a 10-minute wait when I only had an hour or so to play. The cut to 5-minutes was greatly appreciated. The cut to 1 minute is a bit short, but it may also be in response to people witout JTL being at a disadvantage to those who could travel at will (though I think owning your own ship should have perks).

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that the changes that allow players more time to play and less time to wait for anything helps out the people with limited time.

Yeah, that's why the devs pulled back into internal discussions. Crafters and Merchants about died when we saw this one. Instant Delivery from any bazaar vendor...anywhere in the galaxy.

Weak indeed.
