the problems with smuggler aren't top of SOE concerns. Nerfs are. they are nerfing xp, they are nerfing pets, they are nerfing mobs, they are nerfing money. they fixed?

So for 30 days someone gets to say what needs to be said, then sony passes them back to the masses and picks someone else to take over. This isn't an easy task. and i won't critisize the person to much,

some issuse with the class won't be fixed. Some will. what i don't like someone else might love it.this is what San is for. to see what people think. tell sony, and then bug them again some time later. they may, or maynot listen to anything he says. This doesn't make him a puppet. it makes him a smuggler.

My idea of a smuggler is we can work it out. Just ask Jabba, you don't dump your cargo at the first sight of imperials.

In my opinion looking for a smuggler to make fans and clamps for you is a job. So you do earn your slicing skills. I buy my resources for clamps and fans or I survey for them. In either case I am EARNING my profession. I just won't get trained in slicing 4 yet until it is fixed. However that puts potential customers, as well as myself, at a disadvantage because I can't improve their weapon or armor.

I also would like implementation of choosing which part of a weapon or armor you want to slice. In the case of weapons, you can slice HAM cost, speed or Damage or maybe just 2 of the 3. It would help considering that there are some weapons that are already fast and only need a boost in damage ability or decrease in HAM usage.

OK everyone has his/her ideal of what the Correspondent is or should be. My take on it is this the Correspodent is nothing more then someone to spend many hours reading all the post and putting together a list of the problems and ideas that are posted the most, the problem is not with who is doing that it is with the devs looking at and changing the thing that are broke or need fixing.

It would not matter who is in the correspondent position it would still be submit the list and wait.

"Yeah I imagine the correspondents job is no easy task, considering it is just a feeble attempt by the devs to appaise the masses."

Nice outlook.

In my opinion, it's a pretty good attempt by the devs to get the community involved and to keep the flow of information going.

But I guess I'm just one the the "appaised masses."

It is not about what I would do or wouldn't do, it is about the feel that I get from the many post I read. I try to keep on top by scanning the smuggler forums first and foremost. This is then followed buy the other profession forums that most directly influence the smuggler and finally my galaxy's forum.

It is not easy and the task is sometimes arguos, and yes the bulk of the correspondents job is merely to listen to the many complaints. Both good and bad and all of the above.

So with that in mind, I only say that my partial support for the correspondent is not aimed directly at SanTsu but at the lame attempt that SOE is putting into this. Yeah yeah yeah, they are trying to create some form of community or as it was stated, allow for a conduit of inforamation. I do not buy into either. The community is vibrant and there is no need to funnel the information, it is right on these forums already. No one email, no one thread just for SOE. All they need to do is open their eyes.

This goes for all of the present MAJOR bugs and exploits. They surely already know what is unbalanced or out of wack. They created the game and see the cries and moans that fload the boards. Yeah some are down right wrong or one way balanced, but it is their job to decide what is right for the game, not what one correspondent determines in a all powerful email.

Even better is the pretense that one month is enough for a correspondent to actually know what the heck is going on or even enough time to allow for a full understanding of all the arguements. Not really. We give our politians years and most times they can not even do the job correctly or fully. So one month is a drop in the bucket, when listening to the masses.

Even further insult is the extensive list of chnages that are planned already. Check the test center forums or find the list of changes that SOE seems to have removed from its web site. This only shows they already have a clear direction and intent, as to where they think their game is going.

There is no way that SOE is going to hire individuals to read through these forums. It takes enough time for a single player to read through these forums, more or less peruse through them all. On top of that, they are filled with bickering and fighting, and a multitude of opposing opinions. It's a much better idea for them to have someone who they don't have to pay consolodate the information, then to, as you put it, open their eyes and look at what is already there. There are far too many forums, far too many posts, and far too much crap to weed through to do it that way.

I'm a bit confused at to how in one post you can say "I can't wait until our correspondent is replaced" and then in another post say that a large part of your problem is how SOE is handling the correspondent thing, which obviously replacing the correspondent would do nothing to fix. How would any other correspondent do differently? SanTsu seems to be doing exactly what SOE wanted ... is getting the information that SOE wanted from the forums and supplying it to them. If a correspondent did anything else, they'd be going against the community ... because obviously SOE wants it done a particular way. And what other way are you going to do it?

I fail to see how the correspondents are harming the community (though the system may not be perfect in our eyes, that doesn't mean it's not providing something). If anything, it's served to clean up the boards a little bit, condensing a lot of thinking into a few posts instead of a hundred or so random posts.

Umm, politicians have WAAAAY more to sort through than San. He's compiling complaints for ONE profession of a VIDEO GAME. I think you need to re-evaluate your analysis here. For one thing, which is this? Is this an attack on San and his performance? Or is this an attack on the position and it's own validity? That might make it easier to figure out what your problem is, and then we can at least all discuss what can be done about it.

For another, while I agree, the Correspondent is not the end all be all answer to player problems, it IS a good idea, because it DOES do it's intended purpose, which is not APPEASE us, but to lower the signal to noise ratio that reaches the devs. In that regard it IS a good idea. No solution is THE solution. It's A solution, coupled with many other solutions. And while I have several problems with our profession, I don't believe the dev's are actively ignoring or "screwing" us, I just think that our profession, while troubled isn't "broken." Not compared to other problems and concerns they are looking at. Essentially, I think you are taking, and this is just my opinion, but I think you are taking an overly simplistic, and no offense, selfish look at this whole thing. People are always griping, "why are they ignoring MY profession, or nerfing MY profession." But the reality is, there are lots of professions, more broken than ours that need more attention? Honestly, how game stopping is it that we can't experiment on spice? Not very. Non-smugglers certainly don't care. It doesn't stop us from making or selling spice, though I grant you it IS a problem that gates the developement of the profession and needs to be fixed. However, getting shrill, pessimistic and nasty about it, will NOT help. It's a video game man. A big one. And they ALWAYS have problems, and ALWAYS will, and when they prioritize SOMEONE ALWAYS has to be last. The game's not even two months old, and you're already declaring that the dev's have given up on us.
