Guys how do you feel about slicing low grade/CL weapons and new/low players? I had a novice Carbineer request for me to put the level 1 slice on a CL 22 weapon and a CL14. I did it for free because the guy didn't seem loaded and wasn't an arse.

I remember the good ol days where 10k used to be the going rate, that's fine, but 500k? Come on, especially since it's like 500% harder to make money nowadays, mission credits being capped at 10k and so on.
I was looking forward of getting all this stuff I got on me to a fellow smuggler, but seeing this table of the credits you are expecting to get, no thanks.
Those 3s and 4s are "rare" loot drops? funny the first thing I got from loot yesterday was a DTA tho...

So why should we charge 10k when it will likely cost us at least 200K to 500K for the components to slice your item? As it stands, if you want an entire armor set sliced it will cost a mininum of 900K just for the components. Add 100K for a modest payment for our time getting the components, some of which ONLY drop from krayts and NS elders (which is likely way underpriced for our time BTW), and you are looking at a minimum of a million per armor set. Depending on how little this stuff drops, it could easily reach 2 million for a set of armor.

For weapons, it could be 500K just for the components, and if you think we are going to give away slices for less than it costs us to get the components to slice your weapon you are deluded.

Yeh......If I am walking through Mos Eisly selling some VK's and I get asked my a lower lvl guy who isnt a jerk, I will not ask for payment just a tip. If I get asked by some guy that saw I was a M smug on the forums....then they are going to get a large check for my work. Slicing is no longer the cheap thing it used too be. You now have components that are worth upwards of 1-2 mil. Now, if I saw that on a smugglers price I would give him the finger and walk away, but times have changed, for a higher level slice, its going to cost you an arm and a leg, the same thing that it would cost us when a BH comes after us (If they implement that *$&*!@()*$_!@ )

Just my 2c....

Im sure everyone has their own reasons for the prices they charge:

1- It dont take much ((It USED to not take much))

2- The increase isnt significant ((If it wasnt significant...people wouldnt want them))

3- Any other reason not listed above

Now, I say that to say this...I remember when folks used to complain about constant /tells and low pricing ....personally never had to deal with it myself..but I never understood why smugglers allowed WS/AS ((no offense...i have a few associates in those fields)) to make money off their skills.

Am I the only one that found it strange that WS/AS took smuggler as a 2nd proffession...IF it wasnt profitable...Then why?

What does this boil down too...each server has an economy...and WS/AS and Chefs...determine what that is for the most part...

- How much ya payin for weps and armour these days?

-How much ya willin to shell out for a crate of food and drink

-Hmmm...Med-packs aint exactly cheap

Oh..but ya say...they have to go harvest their ingrediants...NEWSFLASH...so do we...just not as specific ingrediants...not our fault or prob..we wanted to experiment...again ignored by the powers-that-be.

So..if ya want 15K or less a slice and have to spend time explainin it..be me guest...

I'm in it for the creds...and like the Great One said...I can imagine a whole lot....

Now..I wont fo into details...but my first 2 slices...netted 750K...yes!...750,0000 credits....and one of those was with a 50% discount for an old-friend.

I tell people straight up..Im expensive...there are others..less expensive...go find one, if ya wish..if not...I'll still be here in the cantina sippin on my Sunburn...

Ok...here is prices from another guide

------------------------------------------------------

Observations:

  1. No one is going to slice an entire suit of armor. It is a waste of time and money
  2. People will be buying average slices most of the time - level 1-2.
  3. People will reserve the expensive, rare slices for their ADK weapons that they already spent millions on.
  4. Stop whining about percentages, 35% damage was absurd. Customers have been pleased with their results.

Now, the prices:

  • Basic slices that require only time: 20k
  • Slices requiring basic kit: 30k
  • Slices requiring fine kit: 50k
  • Not doing high-end slices at this point - just holding on to parts to see. won't be less that 200k, maybe closer to 500k.

And this one is for everyone who couldn't understand that Master Smuggler is still required for the best slicing:

  • Customizations resulting in a total rating of 0%049%: 1x
  • Customizations ending between 50% - 74%: 2x
  • Customizations 75% and greater: 3x

That means that if someone has damage totalling 60%and wants the basic speed slice (20%), it costs 60k. Why? Because you have to be MS to slice anything to over 75%.

--------------------------------------------

My most probably course of action will be to require that the customer already has the loot components, so my job is just a few clicks. I'd set the price to something like 4-5k or so.

In any case, I'm waiting to see how this will evolve, whether the loot components are easy to find or buy at a reasonable price. But as far as I understand the new system, it's mainly the customer's obligation to provide you the components.

-----------------------------------------------

I messed around with armor slicing last night (didn't have any unsliced weapons on me)... This can be really complicated or really not complicated, I guess.

I was thinking that I was going to say that if someone wants me to customize their armor, I'd do a 'full' basic customization (all four types, no components) for 10K per item... just because it takes longer to do. Then maybe if they have component customizations that they want to do, 10K per customization... assuming they provide the components, of course.

But then, I know people will say that I'm undercutting fellow smugglers... but these prices are assuming that I don't have to provide any components. I don't know what the component costs are going to be yet, when I do, the going retail cost of the component will be tagged onto the customization price.

------------------------------------------------

I did some searching on the bazaar and found people were selling the components for about 50K to 100K. Now this means for armor your looking at 100K to 200K per armor piece just for the components, which sets the base cost of slicing an entire armor set (assuming 9 pieces) to be 900K to 1.8 million cost, adding a little some some for the smuggler and you're easily looking at 1 million to 2 million to slice a set of armor.

I'm keeping all my slicing tools for myself and not slicing for anyone Decided that yesterday after I took myself off the profile search, haven't had a title set for a month at least, and STILL got a slice tell...

I'm keeping all the loot I get for myself, or to sell. If someone wants a slice, they gotta provide the components, and then my charge is 50K per slice.

People have to remember thatsmugglers dont set the price on toolkits. The price is dictated by the people that have the wuks and auks for sale. Heck I know as soon as the new slicing system I came in ended up paying nearly 100k for 8 single auks and 2 wuks.

Personally, I'm keeping the level 1 slices at 5k each. 3 clicks and I earn 5k.

But the toolkits depends on what buy them for. 1buy it could be 5k the nextbuy it could be 100k, who know's I'm not the seller, I'm the buyer.

Don't come into this thread and accuse us of being money hungry, tell the other professions (that have us in a hard place) to lower there price and relatively we can lower ours.

......Its not the smugglers fault the components needed to slice are looted. Have a problem with a smugglers price....guess what, no slice. I am sad to say I am turning off my smuggler tag from now on. The people who are my friends know I am a smuggler and I will slice for them and my guild....at this point....thats all I will do...

Personally, Im charging 10k for every action I perform on the item, and then charging for the loot used on top of it scaled based on rarity(unless they bring their own)

Then I may add a bit on top, good old smugglers perk/idiot tax/etc, depending on how nasty/nice i feel.
