Here's the problem: Some dev, somewhere down the line, decided that slicing damage caps should be lower than crafted damage caps. This means you can't bring a weapon up to max with a slice. Stupid, ain't it?

Then why would the slicing menu allow me to apply the third damage slice if it would not apply fully?

Did the Minimum Damage increase?.This happened to me with a Heavy Lightning Rifle. The 3rd slice was accepted but only the min damage was improved.

Don't know if the min increased and frankly don't care. Its almost a meaningless statistic. If the slice could not be applied to the full extent, then why allow it to be applied in the slicing menu? To top it off, CSRs have been told NOT to address these issues and that its too bad if it happens. Well that's just crap. They know that they have a problem and make a decision not help people because it would be too much work?

Oh, and thanks for the hijack of my thread guys, I really appreciate it.

Yes, this sucks, and I really hope they fix it.

If they're focusing on "bugs" for the near future and pushing out content to long term implementation, this ought to go on the list of things to fix.

My advice would be keep opening new CSR tickets until you get a non-template BS response. Believe it or not, there are a few CSRs out there that do a decent job, and you might get lucky and get one of them who actually look into the problem a little more.

Hey Hocky, just curious, but what was the final max damage the weapon came out with?A

According to the nifty slicing tool, I calculate it to be 897. I would like to confirm this with you, as I plan to start compiling a "slice cap" list by weapon. Gonna be a lot of work, but it's Friday and I'm bored at work anyways.

Call me an a$$hat, but I really don't see why a slice should be able to bring a weapon above it's crafted max.

Let's look at this semi realistically. Say you're manufacturing a .45 Pistol, sure you could bore it out to chamber and fire a .50 or even a .454round but the gun just wasn't made for it, and it would completely destroy itself.

The point I'm trying to make is, the weapon is crafted with a MAX damage. Sure you could get to it by experimenting on it, but you suffer in other areas. Now why should you be able to experiment all the way up on max damage, then slice it to go above what a weapon of that calibur and crafting can handle?

It'd be like firing a .454 round out of a Glock .45.

I think most of us have accepted the fact that slicing should not (and will not) take the damage ABOVE the crafted cap.

But we're trying to figure out why it does not take it at least TO the cap.

As is right now, it varies by weapon, and some weaponscannot even come within 40 points of the crafted cap. There has been no indication that this is working as intended, so we're assuming it's a bug.

Actual numbers:

Featherweight FWG5 Pistol: Crafting max damage cap = 967, Slicing max damage cap = 935

Slicing stops 32 points below the crafting damage cap.

Heavy Lightning Rifle: Crafting max damage cap = 1150, Slicing max damage cap = 1144

Slicing stops6 points below the crafting damage cap.

I don't think that kind of wacky inconsistency can be explained by anything besides a bug.
