Guys, we should not have to water down our smuggling abilities and combat abilities even further by being forced to pick up Artisan and Merchant. Thats just crazy! We are weak enough as is, we don't need to throw away the rest of our skill points! We need to hold on to what little we have left!
We have to encourage a smuggler lifestyle and experience. Sure its easier to throw stuff on a vendor, but how realistic and smuggler like is that? Did Han ever walk into a store, slap some spice onhis vendor and say here you go and sell it? No, he walked into the dives of the galaxy to haggle with a customerina dark corner of a cantina. He had to watch his back whereever he went. Embrace the smuggler life! Just how illegal are your goods if everyone can reach them unrealistically? Why should a smuggler bother with subterfuge if we are going to roll over and take the easy way out? Just what is there to smuggling if our goods are sold right out in the open? Where do we draw the line at smuggling and selling spice like its a regular commodity? Fact is, you either have illegal items or you don't. Everyone wants everything with no risk attached. Its sickening. Its why smuggler lost Feign Death in PvP. Jedi took the easy way out.
If sliced items and spice do not become illegal enough then smugglers will always be that profession that took the easy way out. People didn't want the dangerous and hard life of the smuggler, they just wanted to be pretend smugglers throwing stuff on their vendor, strutting around a fake title they did not really earn. You know what that really is? Thats a Merchant and they get way more love than us smugglers!
Immerse yourself in all the RP aspects of this! If you look for the easy way, to just make illegal items common, no penalty, no danger attached, then smuggler doesn't have a chance. Smuggler was always meant to be different, not the next salesman on the block. The smuggler is back alley deals not about beautiful bright shops next to the starport! Make Smuggler stand apart! Make them play like the underworld figures like they are supposed to be! Don't give in to worrying about other professions because they are well taken care of and always will be compared to us! If you keep worrying about them, you should pick another profession instead of trying to destroy the last hopes of smugglers! These professions are not running to our aid! They look to pick us apart! If you can't help the Smuggling profession, then you should not be in it!

Nor should it be useless to me to BE a Merchant. I'm a merchant by choice, not necessity. But that choice shouldn't be made useless to me.
