Hmmm, the way they handled the combat system in the past reminds me of a groundskeeper trying to shape some uneven hedges. In our case, the groundskeeper saw a few really lowspots then decided to cut the hedges down to knee level, leaving nothing but the trunks of the bushes and no leaves.
Let's hope that when a profession seems to be a chosen "elite power" template prof. that the devs augment the weaker professions in the flavor appropriate so we aren't left with a overnerfed, unflavorful combat system.

Yeah, I figure as much. Just like that little- what are they called?- those little ewok care bear things on Corellia. Dra-somethings. I shot one with the LBC for like 15-20 minutes. It's level 8. It was on FIRE. And it would not die.
But in the end, I DID realize I like the MS/MBH combo a WHOLE LOT- with that heavy weapons line of Commando as icing- ummmmmmm. That's D' licious. And the D is for DAMAGE.

Now have you EVER seen that done systematically in an on-line game? You played UO right? Did it ever occur there? Anywhere else? I can't think of one.

When I accepted to respec it automatically gave me the 2h req for TK and put me at -6/250 available points.
I then had to giveup enoug to get below 250 and then continue my respec. So it appears that they have done this properly!

I should clarify that when I say MS/MBH is a great template I mean FOR ME. I'm sure that other temps are equally powerful- I would think that MC/MBH and some pistols would be pretty nice as well. Maybe even TKM/MCM.
But I'm pretty sure of which way I'm going to go now.
What I liked about Swordsman is that I could not only use my specials to put a lot of damage on my target but control how it was done and I never felt that way about pistols.
With this temp I get all that AND it gives me benefits for Smuggler as well.

Well, the Commandos seem to like add BH or Carbineer and the Bounty Hunters seem to be fond of Carbineer and Pistols. Everyone still wants to dabble Smuggler 0040- but I don't know why. Last Ditch is 4000. Is that where Concussion Shot is? /shrug. Whatever.
In short, I think it will be a while before a FOTM comes out but I imagine it will. Doesn't mean the temps aren't balanced- just means someone has found something that works and no one has figured out the counter for it yet.

I understand now...so each combat profession whether it be Elite or Novice has a certain point value associated with it *?* Therefore once I strip Pistoleer, I can use its' points to pick up Novice Scout and it's Exploration line all the way up to IV.
and
Because Im already Pistoleer, the support line form Marksman will have already been filled for me.
*laughing* I sure hope this is it...haven't had to grind in 2 years..and I dont want to have to start now.

Near as I can tell that's exactly right. I didn't have 2h and couldn't for the life of me figure out how I had -6/250 points left! Until I noticed that a line of 2h magically had appeared to reconcile my TK.
