Which will consist of BHs getting missions from NPCs like Jabba and Smugglers stealing spice. Yeah, that's one huge underworld coming to the game.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

LOL!!! This is the funniest quote ever! What is sad is that the big Force Ranking System that is coming out WILL give 30% more force to its higher ranking Jedi...

My personal belief about the FRS is that it could fix the game insofar as the Jedi situation goes. If it managed to pull Jedi away from normal playersin PvP, it would solve a lot of issues. It's not that hard to do, IMO.. if FRS ranked people are given penalties for being killed by normal players and get no benefit from killing normal players aside from BH bounties, then Jedi would be really, really foolish to attack normal players. They wouldn't phyiscally get anything out of it and would actually risk a big hit to their rank if they lost.

That's my ideal world anyway. I can easily see SOE doing it some other abstract and idiotic way.

There's more to this game than PvP for many of us. My PvP experience consists of Concussion Shot the jedi, laugh, run like hell, and jump on my swoop.

The problem with jedi is that since they're over-powered, they completely screw up the balance of all high-end MOBs. They either have to be too easy for jedi or too difficult for every other profession in the game. As long as there's an Alpha class, then all other professions will be screwed.

Bring back permadeath and I will no longer have any issues with the jedi. The devs are still another matter.

Well no, see, the PvP interest can keep the Jedi rare (or "out of sight, out of mind" which is the best option IMO) as well. If visibility is something to be feared, then many Jedi will not be so flamboyant with their force powers, especially in towns. The way to make visibility feared is to make deaths by BH have a huge hit on force ranking, while making BH kills give some FRS, albeit maybe not as much as an opposition Jedi kill. But they'll still get FRS points for the kill, instead of getting nothing but risking huge loss by normal players.

btw - forgot to mention to Nicolas...

Good Job.

You obviously don't work at any game store I've ever visited. The only "advise" I've ever gotten from those jokers was asking if I wanted to buy the strategy guide that went with the game.

You don't know for sure that he won't like it I've talked to several people who have only been playing for around 2 weeks. They've said it was one of the hardest and most fun games they've ever played and thoroughly enjoyed it. Who knows what tune they'll be singing later on down the road, but don't convince people not to buy the game. Assume they're an educated consumer and know the decisions they're making. This game still needs fresh blood and turning people away because you personaly don't like the game is a bad idea

And just to play devil's advocate. If you are still playing, why are you still playing if you don't like it so much

And this is exactly the type of blowback that SOE doen't realize their mismanagement of a game creates. I was asked by an aquaintance about SWG and I told him not to bother with it for another year or so. If SOE decides to get off it's a$$ and actually make this game what it can be and stop jerking around it's customers then they won't have current customers steering potential customers away from the game. This is one of the most common and oldest forms of advertisment, word of mouth, and when you piss off a customer, don't expect that customer to recommend your product.

Bravo Nicholas, and to the rest of those who are currently unhappy with the state of the game and how SOE is managing the game, you have a certain level of power over SOE as Nicholas has shown.

In all seriousness, my personal belief is that the next expansion will probably add some for of Capital Class ships to JtL. Think about it: They show us a movie showing someone taking over a vette, and then flying it off. They should know it would only lead to people thinking they were putting in capital ships and thus the argument that there's no evidence for it because all they showed was someone flying the vette into hyperspace is invalid because it makes no sense that they'd advertise a single quest like that.

So the logical explanation is that it's a teaser for something large going into the game. And SoE's mindset is anything that adds a new dimension to the game (space, new planets, ect) is big enough content to pay for. Thus, you've got the perfect basis for a capital ship expansion that is to be out sometime around holiday 2005 to sell copies on launch of it. Also, that species we saw in the commecial, the natoulans (sp?) aren't in the game, and if you look closely, in one scene they're fighting in what looks to be a starship corridor for a ship that's not in the game. So, throw together capital ships and a new species or two and you've got enough to justify a $30 expansion...

...Then again, it could just be something stupid like RotW...

I watched a show this weekend on G4TV called Icons. They did a whole show on the beginings on EverQuest. Very very intresting...

Thest bast part was at the end they did a quick recap of the current titles SOE had available, and there was SWG....

I think what started my blood boiling was the part right b4 it was about SOE's dedication to Customer Service, and here is the kicker....

...They actually said "Understanding what the community wants and envisions the game to be"

and the wife still doesn't understand why I was yelling at the TV.

From what i've put together in my own tiny mind andfrom Jokens post... could cap shipsbe a key part of the underworld expansion?

Nuts, i know, but hear me out....

There's alreadythe rumour of player shipsbeing able to docking withother ships... we got the cap ship video... and what better to have on the cap ships than smugglers smuggling???

You get boarded because... you're smuggling jedi out the system! And what could possibly be more iconic than that?

Huge battles on board your ship, smugglers fighting BH's... Jedi running round the ship in flames because imperial commandos got their weaps fixed... large scale piracy and wanton destruction on pob ships!!!! oh... wait... sorry, i forgot this was SWG

We're getting 2 new colours on the slicing menu instead and I really should stop drinking during the day

Would be really cool.

Originally the devs said that player capital ships would never happen. Then again they said to rangers that having comoflage take you off the radar would be overpowering, and that multiplayer vehicles would never happen either.

And now we have the capital ship video, which they haven't commented on since, and they're trying to clean up their code so the game is more stable and playable. And they're pushing back content. They also said that hoth was a really good idea at the fanfest, so maybe the expansion is a push forward in the timeline with hoth, a new species, and capital ships...

Now that'd be one cool expansion...
