i'm an imperial master smuggler flying for the RSF, and i was called smuggler...

Should mean that every Neutral will be called smuggler

As a member of corsec forces, i was also called smuggler (on another server)

So i fear they call smuggler everything that is not flying for empire

EDIT : any rebel pilot will be flagged as rebel pilot.

Any neutral pilot will be called "smuggler" by these NPC. beeing a ground smuggler or not

Edit 2 : beeing a non pilot with JTL, and the troopers will tell you "i hav eno time for you, friend. We have a war to fight"

(i created a sullustan ^^)

30 seconds later, as RSF pilot, he called me "Smuggler"

So we can conclude taht every privateer pilot will be called smuggler.... (RSF, corsec and SA) even if not ground smuggler

I would actually mind this a little less than what my initial fears were. Although it's still a slight in some way, it indicates more of a lack of imagination onthe writer's part than it does them passing along our title to someone else. Still, you would think that they would sooner call us all Rebels than smugglers.

agreed its ntoable that though smuggler population is declining the forums arestill at the very elast still up to date with our sugestions and rants. Lets just pray something gets done..

I have to agree with the initial post. If people wants to be privateer, they can always choose corsec or rsf.

Smuggler's Alliance being available to ANYONE is a real slap in the face.

Can anyone tell me if i can HOPE for something ? I don't think i'll resubscribe after both of my account close in january...

I'm an Imperial Smuggler flying under the Black Epsilon regiment, which I think is appropriate because it's pretty smuggler/scoundrelly in its storyline. I did all the Yavin IV missions as well.

I agree with you that it doesn't seem entirely fair, but ...

Well, just that.

Well, as I have access again I'll let you know.

The day you were posting this I wrote a very similar e-mail to the devs. So similar in fact that the very same day I sent another e-mail with this link. I can only hope they have read this and what I've written and will act on it in a possitive way.

Good post - and good job to everyone who checked and confirmed it.

Now that we know that JFreeman's line doesn't appear to be the reality, a nice show of faith now would be to release some of the sandbox documents so we can see where the profession is going.

So frustrating...

Saw this firestorm coming back in beta though. The day the NDA was lifted I posted here my concerns on the matter with the hope that worse would in fact not come to worse. The second I saw Smuggler Alliance in Beta as an option I was like...uhoh... NO..not true...it was the second second because the first second was like "AWESOME" ...and THEN "uhoh"

What can we do? I'm getting to the point where I think no amount of writing, flaming, thinking, dreaming, encouraging, pleading, begging, crying is going to make any difference. I admire those of you who have stuck with it for over a year. I've been Smuggler since about June and already I'm feeling the futility of our passion for this profession.

I love smuggler. I get to roleplay smuggler...but I just think it is sad that not only does the profession have nothing to do with its name, we as a community get treated pretty poorly by the staff at SOE. Misinformation, no information, broken promises, put off, ignored... It is just a sinking feeling you know?

I've really slowed down my posts here (and everywhere for that matter) last week when things got ugly. I play this game for fun and the forums, being a part of the game, got completely UNfun. Just disheartening...

As many remember,back in the JTL beta we saw this coming, argued against it, and were completely overruled by JFreeman. At the time, he told us that SA was just a supporting profession. Obviously, as the T4 mission was already implemented, he was lying through his teeth (or sorely ignorant of his own game, which I doubt). I salute anyone that still has hope that they'll change their position now, as a precedent has already been set. You have far more imagination and patience than I.

Apparently, we're not to be the smugglers of illicit goods in space. That role now lies with SA Freelancers.
