Fair to me fair to my clients.

You'll never get a slice under 11% as master, so getting a 2k payout for a slice is slim to none.

4k for the majority of slices is pretty cheap... same with 6k.

Glad to know you only charge 8k for a slice that could increase the cost of a weapon by 50-100k.

Given that it is damage...

I just have a thing for low cost slices. Specifically on my server. I believe the smuggler community is just that, a community. Those who charge so little for such a great slice are hurting the community.

I could just imaging what you would have to say to the Master Smuggler on Starsider slicing for 1k per slice....

Everybody does it their own way.

I used to charge flat 5k for all slices, then one night I didn't really feel up to doing any full sets of armor, so when somebody asked me to slice a full suit, I charged him 7.5k hoping that he would take the hint and go elsewhere. However, at 3am there is not many Smugglers around, so he took it eagerly. In the future, that price will go up.

I may try your pricing scheme one day just to see what happens...

Or I may just bump up to 10k or higher...

I just tell the costumer to tip me what they want, this usually pays off very well. I think if u charge a flat rate of 5k, then you are limiting yourself. People usually pay very well, especially the higher end costumers. I've gotten 30k per slice before from doing this. Although for slicing many things (bulk orders) it's hard to say, "pay me what you want" I usually charge 2.5k for orders over 20 items. Weaponsmiths seem to like that price, and usually after I'm done slicing they tip a bit more depending on the slices I was getting.

I don't it's limiting - people can still /tip over the basic price if they like their slice. I charge a flat rate because (a) keeping track of numbers if there's more than a few items got tedious for me, and (b) it's less prone to misunderstandings, IME.

I forgot to mention in my previous post - the thing I dislike about "pay what you want" on principle, is that the mean/greedy peoplewould bepaying less for my services than the generous people. THat just feels backwards to me.

Sorry Im at work and bored so im checking other profession boards.

IMO people charge far to little for their services, I know you have to adjust for the newer players but it just bugs the hell out of me when you see some cat in a full suit of comp armor holding some exspensive piece of weaponry with his nearby av-21 speeder complaining about paying 5-10k for some service that he cannot provide himslef. The wayI see it you (smuggler comminity) take my weapon/armor and make it better weather i get the sliceI want or not. PersonalyI've never paid a smuggler what he asked for to slice I have always given more including97k over the asking price for a stun baton that got a 25% damage slice and ended up a 578 damage baton. I probably owe that guy moremoney.

Its just sad, peoplewho can make over a mil in a buff session easily complaing about 5k for somethig that only makes their items better.

Yimaz,

By no means was I trying to accomplish anything by disecting your post.

I understand that everyone charges different.

On Flurry a few months ago I gathered 30 smugglers, majority masters, rest Slicers; We set prices on the server. We went forth and delivered our prices to the public and got alot of flames at first. That was the past, now it is SUPER rare to find anyone charging less then 5k a slice. I have talked to over 100 smugglers on my server and the effort I put forth has helped changed the prices on the server.

6 months ago something may have been to expensive... but that person could have made 10 mil in the past 6 months. Peoples incomes change, and if everyone can pool together to raise prices... the community will follow suit when they see everyone making the extra cash.

Again, by no means was I trying to put you down or anything. No hard feelings on my part.

Hey my new price due in larg part to this thread:

01% - 15% - 4k

16% - 24% - 6k

25% - 31% - 8k

32% - up - 10k

I know it is not a flat rate, but for me a credit value based on slice % works. But your right itwas time for me to to rase the price....

I have to admit that doing a X Creds/% is tedious, but since it's random I like to just say pay for what you get.

Smugglers undercharge horribly. Even I'll admit I'm cheaper than I should be.

I do 200cr/%, this may seem high to many (as I have been flamed) but think about it...

I know a TKM that makes 860k per buff session. While working my smuggler trees as a novice pistoleer, I did Quenker missions for 5k per. Someone can choke up 300k for a suit of composite, I don't want to hear ANY complaints about the 40k it cost to have all that armor made better!

As for the poor end of the community, well, maybe throw some freebies around to help, but they don't need their bone armor sliced.

But of course, charge what you will. But I urge some to re-think what their customers can afford. 10k for a 3 hour buff is STANDARD on starsider. Why can't you pay 10k for a permanent increase to some item?

I usually charge 4k, but I could probably get away with charging more. Still, I can't complain. I make a good 100k slicing if I spend any time in Coronet. And that's usually just off searches. I never advertise. From an RP aspect, I have a problem with advertising an illegal service. lol Whenever I do a search on Naritus, I usually seem to be the only Master Smuggler around. I haven't had a complaint about 4k yet, so no big deal. And I make good money charging that. Not sure what everybody else charges, but that's plenty for me. I'm not greedy. I tried the credit/% thing, but it was too hard to keep track of.

Anyway, the point is, whether I charge more or not, people still come to me. Nobody's complained about the pricing, and everybody's always understanding about the randomness of the deal. I'm happy with it the way it is now, and I don't feel the need to change it.
