This is an issue where I remain stubborn. I'm as greedy as the next guy, but I do not want to play a "slicer". I bought the game in order to play a "smuggler". I want to use my slicing skills to improve my smuggling ability to help me make beaucoup credits.

It could make a noticeable difference if it increased speed, manuverability or a normal weapon slice on the ship's weapons.
I understand wanting to have an edge, but no matter how many people on the forum agree to not slice for other people, the publicwill still get their components sliced by someone. That is why I suggested that smugglers be able to fine-tune (or add a like something extra to)the slices on components that can then only be used in their personal ships.

I'm not asking the smugglers reading the forums not to slice for other people. I'm asking the devs to make it either impossible or less desirable for non-smugglers to use sliced ships.
Also, I've felt the same way about slicing weapons.

My reply wasn't aimed at any one in this thread, I was just referring to forum boycotts in general.
And I completely agree with what you are saying. I was just trying to think of a way that both parties could come out with something.

yeah, trying to get people not to price fix ship slices or to only slice their own ships is going to be like stopping a dam with a net fence. You'd be better off putting your emotions elsewhere.

The more I think about these ideas, the less plausible it seems....
If you try to price-fix, there's always going to be Smuggler's who either say "screw that" or just don't read the forums at all so don't even know there's an "agreed upon" price.
If you try to get it so Smugglers can only slice their own ships, then the hardcore players will just take two days to grind out Master Smuggler, slice their ships, then take another day or two to grind back out whatever profession they had before.
If you try to get it so Smugglers get better slices on their ship components than on the components of other ships, then you're just asking for public outcry (which means the Devs aren't likely to do it).
No matter what you try, people are going to work around it or go against the flow. It's a nice idea in theory, but I don't think it pans out in practice.
