How would rudders work in space with no engines?

6. Emergency shutdown of all systems:
Give the smuggler the ability to shut down all systems immediately. This will make the smuggler's vessel undetectable by sensors (not targetable or attackable) so it cannot be attacked, but also make it unmaneuverable and continue with the velocity and in the direction that the vessel was headed, when the shutdown was initiated. Rudders should still be working, so you could correct the course a little bit. This would be the space version of /feigndeath. Shutting the systems back on would take several seconds, in which the ship would power up, be detectable by sensors (targetable, attackable) again but couldn't do anything and the shields and weaponscouldn't be brought online until the power up period is done. Both the power up period and shutdown period would get shorter with the higher skill of the smuggler. A master smuggler would be able to power up and down much quicker than a novice smuggler. Also, the powerup/shutdown period should depend on the type of the ship. Th smaller the craft, the quicker it would be.

I have to agree with Alila on that.
As for the bulk of the idea, bravo!
Aren't some of them being implemented with JLT already, in the form of Smuggler terminals? Or was that a dream I had from some bad pepperoni.....

I would personally like to see Smuggler's Jawa speaking and comprehension skill come into play. jawas were Junk Dealers and scavengers. Occasionally they would have some real gems to sell, in our case hard to find/rare parts for our ships.
This would certainly add quite a bit of Star Warsiness of the game.

The only problem with #6 is that it could be exploited (I made a thread about it once before and got bombarded with people saying it could be exploited haha). All a Smuggler has to do it fly towards enemy lines, use the space-feign-deah, float past the enemies, who can't shoot the Smuggler, the reactivate his ship once he's safely on the other side. There are definitely players who would use this in ways they shouldn't.
If they added some kind of safe-guard, like making it so it takes your ships 30 seconds to power back up, that would help prevent problems with mis-using the skill.
Isn't that basicly what Solo and company did in ANH when boarding the Death Star?

A dream, I fear. Altough I will definitely keep my eyes open when I'm on the ground again

Using solar winds, perhaps? ![]()
Those ships usually don't have rudders and use thrusters instead, so I guess they would have to be shut down as well, so I removed the part about it in the main post, thanks for bringing it to my attention ![]()

You have some top notch Ideas there mate, the only one I think could do with altering is #5. I think if you dump your cargo it's gone presumably it wasn't packed for rapid decompression and surviving in a vacum. In the films Hans bounty was for dumping his cargo, and I think that would quite a cool thing to include, if you dump an NPC's cargo that your smuggling, depending on who it is for there is a varying chance of getting a bounty put on your head (I know not everyone wants PvP, so maybee an NPC bounty hunter?)

Ithink it's out of the question that smugglers should get bounties issued on their heads when they fail a mission and bounty Hunters should be able to pursue the smuggler into space as well (side note: a tracking device for bounty hunters to put on a smuggler's ship would be a nice touch). If you fail your smuggler's runyour visibilityshould risedepending on the level of the mission and for whom you did it,until you end up on the bounty hunter terminals (which could be instantly). It would also be nice if you woul dbe able to dump the cargo, packaged and all, say you dumped it, but return later to pick it up and keep it for/sell it yourself or tell the bounty hunter where it is as a bribeso he or shedrops your mission

Yeah I must say all are good and some were touched on in other posts. Smuggles were always a space based class. More so then any other. The wholeIdea behindthe smuggler is moving goods from one place to another. weather its jedi with a bounty on them or someone needs some Hard to get droid parts Itsour bread&butter togo and get the items around. What would be cool isImperial sanctions on differnet worlds. Like it's cheaper to buy droids ondantooine then it is on say lok. Or youneed to have adoctored shipsmanifest. Who else but a Smuggler to do it.
See what I want is to get the feel of Star Wars stronger in the game. My problems with JTL is you will never see a ship on the ground. Yeah you will ride with friends and bounce from planet to planet But never see a ship touch the ground. I mean you see Speeders and shuttles but thats it. Even after JTL. I would love to have places all over the ship to store stuff, inside and out.
Great ideas are out there..
Just need normal people to make them happen.
