Thread: Old Smugglie PETITION: BRING BACK SLICING ITEM BREAKAGE!

Tomo, I really hoping that you have Wes' back in the Coro forum about this stuff. We need all the help we can get.
Where did this idiot learn grammar? His teachers should be shot, hanged, then fed to wild boars. I can't believe someone like this squeaked through the school system. I tell ya, this is exactly why...... oh..... waitaminute....
Damn, I really need to make some coffee...
Never mind!

There must be RISK involved in deciding to get your gear ILEGALLY modified.
JUST ONCE ... live up to the promises you've been feeding us for 2 years?

And all the opinions posted above about why it was removed are entirely speculation, since the Devs have not seen fit to actually communicate to us why it was done.
That's what I was wondering.
I support this thread, though. The notion of (fully reparable) breakage as a result of sliced gear is exactly the kind of consequences we've been asking for to our "risky" and "illegal" activities for a very long time now.
Well, true - partially.
The types of consequences I am looking for is to be arrested or fined if I'm spamming SLICING WEAPONS or something anywhere near a factional NPC. I want us and our customers to be searched by Crackdown NPCs inside a city's limits and slightly rarer in the wild. I want even us to be occaisionally caught with spices and sliced weapons. I was the slices to be removed or the weapon to be "disabled" if contraband is found. Then have to take my weapon to a smuggler for the slice reapplied or a weaponsmith if its been disabled.
That is what I want when it comes to sliced goods and reprocussions to the "illegality" of it all... meerely making a weapon "out of tune" is not a reprocussion of illegality, its a reprocussion of an overly modded weapon.

Can someone give us a rundown on exactly what happened with the removal? I know how it was supposed to work and how it was working (or not working, as it happened) when it first hit TC, but what's up now? Was there a dev note that it's been removed? If not, how do we know it wasn't just changed to how it was supposed to work--breakage every couple weeks, not every couple shots?
I ain't down with it being removed, but I'm having a hard time finding the particulars here.
From what I understood, on TC, sliced weapons were jamming every 6-12 shots. This could be a bug with the system or developer handled acceleration of the jamming process that might've taken afew days normally. The developers didn't say one way or the other, they just took it down earlier today.

rundown..
basicly they found a bug they knew they couldnt fix before there planned launch date so instead of putting off the smuggler new slicing system for 2-3 more publishs they took out the weapon break for now so they can still push the new slicing system live on time

Now, I am 50/50 on this. On the one hand, it brings risk to the customer and return business to the Smuggler. On the other hand, it disabled the weapon in fights, but a lot of us carry multiple weapons..
I'm a bit urked that it was removed, but it won't phase me too much.
