I used to RP a lot in my storm trooper armor... wander around theed shouting ST sayings and phrases

I'd interogate suspected rebels and whatnot... but then i stopped because rebels would constantly come in

with their 80% comp armor, buffed, with full stomachs in groups of 4-10 and they'd murder me... i used to

die like 20 times a day, them shouting "I PwND Y00 nUB"

i just gave up, it wasnt worth my time and effort that i put in

Ahh say no more ! I love role playing , I expecialy love Eisly and espas cantinas . Its a damn pity no one but nubs hang around their , and they arnt their long . They really need to improve NPC citys , and actually attract people to them . I suggest Sabbac , the infamouse card game that would make charaters famouse for their playing skills . I would love to be known as a famouse Sabbac player . To bad its really hard to get a good wrap in this game . Stuff such as that would increase the game by millions in my mind .

i forsee this happening, and instead of calling them NPC cities in the future, they will be Smuggler Cities. where we sit all day, praying to the slicing gods, hoping for that rare idiots array at the table all night.Booze, spice, and twilek dancing girlsbeing consumed in large quantities. I am so there!

i remember thinking about that last year...when i was in Bestine and they have those 2 rows of apartments next to the Cloning center. that would own to live there. im sure theres better places...gosh i hate player cities. whos says, besides the devs, that we cant just own a cantina, for example, outside of the Npc city. why do we need player cities.? its just like owning a home. we dont need to live in a player city to own a house.

We were having a similar conversation/debate over this in another forum. This being content as far as Jabba's Palace, Lucky Despot, and various other places that stand out in one's mind when they think about Star Wars.

It's a shame really, some of these places should bebustling with player activity, but they aren't. There should be Jawa Wagons rolling along the Tatooine's vast sands...but there aren't.

Tusken Raiders should actually raid...but they dont.

The Emperor or Vader should automatically strike down any Rebel intheir presence...but they dont.

We should've seen AT-AT's roaming aroundevery now and again....but they dont

There are so many things that developers could have done to make this game so much more immersive, that they just haven't or never will put in.

Big thumbs up on this one IndySWG. After reading your post, I did the same thing on Friday night in Coronet on Kettemoor. I had a great time and got a lot of positive responses from my customers. Well done!

Allow me to join the line of people shaking your hand. I too have been trying to RP a smuggler. The best I had come up with as advertising that I "wasn't doing anything illegal like slicing weapons or armor" and asking people to send me a tell if they wanted to discuss "Pod racer modifications." I have a couple of customers who enjoy playing along with that one.

I'll definitely be incorporating some of your ideas since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Oh, and The Lucky Despot ? Every time I walk by it in Eisely, I "hang my head" low. The place is marvelous, and waaay back in the first week a buddy of mine had a party there! I remember thinking then, "Wait until people find this place. It'll be a character mecca."LOL, yeah right. The mostcommon thing heard in The Lucky Despot is "chirp, chirp, chirp" and even those crickets have crickets.I blame this not on us players, but on the game creators who really don't make it "game attractive" to hang out in the place. There's an identical "ship Cantina/Hotel" in Mos Entha, The Fallen Star. Same crickets.I often think of SWG as the "Ancient Egypt" of MMORPG's. All these buildings, skills, faction gangs, and other indicators of original intentaround..... for a purpose not yet discovered or fulfilled.

Imagine, Mos Eisley, crowded with players and bustling with activity, due to the fact that something as simple as housing would be allowed in the NPC towns? I dont mean that we actually could place our own houses, but that we might could, like, rent apartements in the already standing buildings? Same prerequisite as with normal housing, small condo, 1 lot, storing 75 items and so on.........I think this has been up on the Architect board a few times, and imho, a rather easy solution to bring people back to the NPC citys, and also, bring back some of that SWG feeling. I wouldnt think twice, if i had the option to rent me an apartment in a shady neighbourhood in Mos Eisley vs my current housing in a playercity. Oh, well, wishfull thinking i guess........but it coulda been nice

Well, considering that this aspect is in EQ2, its not like it would be difficult for the devs to code. Be nice if they added it in for us. HUGE cities, ugh. How about make it so that docs cant BUFF with droids. I know that docs would get angry about that, but then at least the med centers would have something other than afk-tumblers and afk-medic/docs. Coro has a HUGE square and nothing in it to do unless you are a BH. Then you're only there for the terms and the npcs. Even when I started people would be hanging out in all sorts of places, just talking and things. But now that has stopped as well. RPing needs content to make it happen. Its hard to roleplay your character while waiting for 20 mins in a buff line. In fact, most of the actual RPers are the *gasp* non-afk ents in the cantinas. IF you can find one, they can actually provide you with some decent conversation.

We needapts/shops in the big cities. Make it so There is a reason to go to Tyrena or Doaba Guerfel or Nashal. get rid of vendor tents. Make it so that shop space is LIMITED. Force people to have a shop in Kor Vella because Coronet is full. wouldn't it be nice to to pass people in the streets of a city because you are all going to different places to buy stuff? Just an idea, but.....ah well...it'll never happen. Jedi need another revamp soon, so IF we get ours, Im sure added content will be pushed back so Jedi can have their floating houses or something.

(I decided to reply before I went on)

I always try to throw a little RP in with my "illegal transactions". Sometimes people get confused, sometimes they play along, sometimes they just plain ignore the RP.

edited-- I agree, it's a shame the NPC cities are so sparsely populated. One of my guildmates, who left the game, thought it would be fantastic if the devs put in apartments for NPC cities.

to tell u the truth, im never really out of character.my personality is almost that of a smuggler, so i just brush it up a lil bit and im all set. its sad though that not many other players like to RP. most just go through the motions of the game, and that just takes all the fun right out. its good to c ppl still like RP.
