Thread: SoE wouldn't take abilities away from the rest of the playerbase
Sounds very much like my idea... but instead of people no being able to fly with the contraband i think it should be conviscated and teh player attacked by a security team.. that it is so dangerous to have makes it all the more valuable

How would you fit hundreds of units of resources in a little bitty droid, anyway? (
It's not as easy as saying you can't migrate your stats yourself now but when you get an ID to do it it'll only take 10 minutes to take effect.
That's a trade off. Player based smuggling is FAR more difficult than that and carries extreme game altering consequences.'
They shouldn't have added an almsot non-tested, no-content, thrown together profession and named it smuggler if they weren't up to the task of 'difficult programming'. They did this to themselves. And after playing this long I really could care less any time the population whines. Hell they whined over 75% pvp reduction, they whined over the very first ch nerf back when novices could control 3 master level pets they bought from masters, they whine about the t21 rifle still that is the most damaging ranged weapon in the game secodn only to commando weapons.
Any time there is a power reduction or an interdependancy added to the game people freak. There is almost nothing in the game that people haven't figured out how to solo yet we should make the playerbase happy? It's like nomad use to say.....if they did what players wanted we would all be pixelated gods. A game isn't fun to me when the challenges either don't exist or get removed. Now I certianly don't think the player base should have to rely on smugglers for every dang thing they try to move but contraband is contraband and should be treated as such. As long as they are careful what is made contraband or taxed and its constraints. There should be a method to move stuff without smugglers holding your hand but using a smuggler or smuggler created item (fake papers or something) should be vastly more appealing than moving it yourself when it comes to restricted items.
They created an interdependance for ids finally now they just need to create one for smugglers when we get revamped. People are going to whine if they give smugglers an interdependance.

Would Imperials be given a free pass like they have now ?
Definately not. Say it is necessary for some some top secret equipment (i.e. Death Star superlaser) and that only the military industrial complex is given acces to it. Average Imp (even if military) are not associated with heavy-weapon development and do not qualify. Even say that it is by the Emperor's decree that only R&D scientists are allowed access, any Imperial citizen caught in posession will be shot on sight for treason.

I've been playing the last several days during daylight hours, while most folks are at work, or at school, and there are few people online displaying a "smuggler" tag. Frankly, when I check, I am the only smuggler on during most of the day (At least on Naboo). Can you imagine how many times a smuggler would be pestered to help transport something if this system is implemented? You would be constantly barraged with tells requesting your services.
I've been playing at pretty much the same time... try to make a search for an ID. I was migrating some stats while this was implemented... I still haven't been able to finish this migration, because I can't find any ID.
This change has very much been to my inconvenience and has severely ruined my fun in this game. Now I have to wait for days to get a statmigration and on top of that I'll probably have to pay 15k for this... at least this is the prices I've seen so far.
Allthough I support increased interdependence, then I've found this to be too much of a problem to me... ofcourse this is my problem. However I fear that I might have to wait for weeks before I can finish my statmigration and if the changes I've started is not good then I'll have to wait for more weeks before I can try something new. How fun is that.
Another thing in this is that you now have to go to someone else if you want to change your profession. Going from Rifleman to pistoleer requires that you have to see an ID... no other profession in this game has so much power, when it comes to controlling the possibilities of others. Now I have to pay money to IDs if I want to try something new in this game.
Who cares anyway... I played this game as long as it was fun for me... now the fun is gone.
