Honestly, I think if they did it in a step-wise fashion, it wouldn't be that bad.


Step 1) Add a Smuggler Mission terminal that gives smuggler missions. ALL of these missions spawn some worthless item in your inventory and a waypoint, and they are basically a delivery mission to some NPC at the waypoint.


Step 2) Turn the mission terminals into NPCs.


Step 3) Add Critical Missions where the item you deliver is one of the rare loot slicing objects (mando intraframe, delicate trigger assembly, whatever). Have it be like the BH missions where you can only have one mission at a time (and therefore have to abort one mission to take another). Aborting a mission adds X visibility (I would probably say 10% of the amount that gets one bounty on you at the terminals).


Step 5) Add a new faction: Smuggler's Alliance (or whatever). Taking Critical Missions requires X faction standing with the Smuggler's Alliance (gained from doing regular missions). Death from a BH makes you lose X faction.


Step 6) Add waypoints in space.


Step 7) Start to think of ways to impliment Smugglers smuggling objects FOR players.


(Step 2a) Break Step 1, Step2b) Fix Step 1 and re-impliment step 2, Step2c) Actually fix Step 1 and 2, and Steps 2d-z) Balance Missions removed for simplicity)

Edit: Oh and I really don't see Step 3 giving slicing objects as a problem. Most of the BHs I know just as soon delete the smuggling objects as bother with collecting and selling them, so we won't care if their value on the market drops. God forbid that slicing should come easy to smugglers.

They MIGHT add missions at a later date, but don't hold your breath. Unless you want to.





i dont think of what we got for slicing as a revamp. in fact i think it was a new broken element to the game. they took something that at least had a little substance to it and flushed it. instead of adding a good mini game they turned us into a button masher.


i dont call that a revamp i call it a let down.

So much for a Smuggler revamp, maybe they should just rename us, it would take less time and be easy to do.
"Useless" would be my first choice as a name suggestion.


of course at this point there is no reason to revamp anything. SOE should just shut the game off.

PS:


On a serious note, I do have some questions I'd like to bring up.


1) Why do we receive a bonus to Unarmed Combat and require it as a prerequisite if absolutely none of our attacks use unarmed combat and we only advance through the profession with a pistol.


2) What seperates a Smuggler from a Pistoleer combat-wise?


3) How does Combat XP give me the ability to craft Giggledust?


4) How does Pistol XP make me a better slicer?


5) Isn't two years of broken promises and deceptive statements enough?



This is what in my opinion needs to happen:


1) Every profession needs a publish to address their valid concerns.


2) Jedi need to be limited in number somehow, or the timeline needs to be pushed forward, or SWG needs to be acknowledge as some alternate storyline track.


3) The GCW needs to be implemented and kick major amounts of backside.


Until these things happen, no expansions. No Episode III content.


I'm only going to pay for an expansion if it includes the following:


1) A revamped GCW that actually gave the high end game a PvP system that made the game interesting.


2) A -complete- Smuggler Revamp.


3) Hoth, or something that could be used as an open battlefield.


4) Existing battlefiends opened.


5) [Part of the Smuggler Revamp] The ability to go inside a space ship in space (a la that video of the Corvette thing in space, would make for good space smuggling).


Other than these 5 things? I won't be buying it. I have RotW only because of the Total Experience. I'm sure it's decent, but I don'tcare about Episode 3.

And yeah, we've been asking about that whole unarmed thing and smuggler missions and the slicing xp thing for a good two years now (cept the slicing thing, since CU for that pearl). But atleast your gripes make you a Smuggler. Welcome to the club, here's your introductory bottle of lube.

I got caught at an Imperial checkpoint today and didn't get fined or anything. Does that count as smuggling?
