Smuggler isn't really "gimped," it's just a way to play SWG that nobody's really used to. Pre-CU, there wasn't really any form of crowd control (delay/knockdown spamming is arguable, but after it got nerfed, that form of crowd control was rendered useless).

One thing that should really be stressed (repeatedly if necessary) is that smuggler is NOT a "pwn all" profession. It's a support profession. Of course, that is a little contingent on what the other profession is that smuggler is complimenting, but generally speaking anyone with smuggler in their template will function best doing support and crowd control. For example, it's very arguable that BH/Smuggler is good to add direct damage (DD) to that mix, but a BH/rifleman will always be superior to that template in DD. However, the BH/Rifleman sorely lacks crowd control, which the BH/Smuggler excels in.

Smuggler functions very well post-CU.We do what we're meant to do - crowd control. That aside, the strife of this community (one that is reflected by the entire SWG populace) is that there's simply nothing interesting or remotely fun to DO past mastery. Even on the PvP side of things, the game got old for veteran PVPersa very long time ago (if anyone remembers when both SWGPVP.com site hosts rebelled against SOE and said that this game's PvP was beyond help).

There's been very little content enhancements since the game was conceptualized. Not much has been improved on since release. Our only options are:

* "KIll-a-thon." Kill enemies! Kill lots of enemies! 0.5% chance to get anything remotely useful (and in the case of SWG, 90% chance to be totally disappointed when you loot enemies!).

* Non-combat. Be a socialite! Way back when, this actually meant something. Now, cantinas in the "homeworld cities" are becoming more and more desolate as entertainers are effectively neutered.

* Crafter. Make lots of money slaving away making items for grinders! Get asked lots of irritatingly stupid questions! Wonder why you bothered in the first place!

* Space combat. The one thing that couldn't possibly go wrong in Star Wars, and yet SOE found a way to completely botch it with useless loot and Jedi Starfighters with tiny hit boxes. Awesome!

And if you think about it, there really isn't that much "new" in the future. The signs are already there - just look at what ROTW brought us

* New planets? Well, that's nice. More places for more of the same "kill-a-thon" type gameplay.

* New quests? Kill 15 of this or that. Deliver this item to that person. Go to place X and do action Y. Get a reward for it (and sometimes it will be useful).Yep, more of the same. Nothing truly innovative.

* Space dungeons? Great, now instead of riding my bike/mount/running to the dungeon, I can fly there on my ship. And yet again, it's merely "kill-a-thon."

* New mounts/items? Hey great, more useless crap! At least it will look pretty in my house as decorations, but.. er, damn. Nobody ever visits my house.

* Hoth PvP planet? Don't make me laugh! Watch there be venerable PvE content there. Either that or it will be a completely terrible imitation of WoW battlegrounds.

* Force Ranking System? When it goes live, I'll take bets now on how long it takes people to figure out all the loopholes. I give it a week.

* New schematics? Great, render all that 0.5% earned loot I worked my casual ass off for practically useless. All I'll need is a schematic and components for my weaponsmith.. which means more loot camping on mobs I've been tired of for over a year now! Hooray!

* Smuggling? Glorified delivery missions. I'm terribly sorry to say it, but that's all it's going to amount to when it finallygets in. I sincerely hope I'm proven wrong, but SOE has done nothing to earn any optimism from me.

...and where in any of these points doentertainer professions get a boost?

At any rate,I hope this explains why content fulfillmentis #1 on just about everyone's lists. Unfortunately, I think everyone that still holds hope (and God bless each and every one of you) is in for some major disappointment. I really hope I'm wrong about that, but the pessimism is there, on my behalf and that of many others,to display how desperate the situation is. Many complain that this game does not "feel like Star Wars," and only engaging, ground-breakingcontent will fix that. Whether or not that is likely to happen in SWG, I'm not going to hold my breath.
