Isn't 'no plans at this time' Devspeak for 'no plans ever'?
The "no plans at this time" could be the "not talking about anything that is not worked on now or right after" policy in action.
Is that only me or the HoC chats create uproar every time lately? lol
As for interpreting The spice stuff is being effected primarily by the combat upgrade. There might not be a bunch of more skill boxes in their place, but we'll probably see additional content for the existing boxes, and lots of work being done on the content for the overall system. as meaning "no skills at all the whole tree will be completly empty" I am not quite making that leap yet.Message Edited by LaughingWolf on 03-17-2005 10:14 AM
Oh, I'm sure the tree won't be empty. I just think it's a waste to use the space which our spices tree currently occupies for anything having to do with the new smuggling mission system as they've suggested. The best thing to do would be to use Underworld for that and turn it into our equivalent of BH Investigation tree. The reason I say that it makes the most sense is because A.) GM said in the past that a new smuggling system would provide the advancement for Underworld instead of Pistol XP and we all loved it. B.) It just makes the most sense
I agree with both your points. That part of my reply was more a reply to zazo, should have included a quote, sorry for the confusion.
I love it, I hope it doesn't change.
No offense but seriously... enoughs enough...
There are us out here that really love this system. So far all the smugglers I've talked to on my server enjoy the challenge of getting out and having to earn slices. I've talked so far to about 20 of my good friends whom are smugglers...

And the six pages of people /signing that they hate it? The focus thread that screams that the community hates it? You are in the minority.

No sorry the minority are the amount of people who read the forums.
That is why SOE never uses polls to determine crap.
I really like the loot system, but I do understand the weaknesses in it that drive some players to not stand it.
What I'd like to see changed:
1) Make low-level stuff drop in stacks of 5-11, mid-level stuff in 2-5, and high-level as 1--cuts back on inventory problems and eases the bottlenecks in slicing we're seeing. Numbers are kind of arbitrary, so change them as you please
2) Make it possible to get this stuff from rewards or stealing in slicing missions--just make sure it's kept appropriately rare
3) Finally, make it contraband with meaningful penalties for getting caught with it
I think I'll like the system pretty well once the drop rates are smoothed out, but any of these three things (or a number of the other suggestions kicking around this place) would go a long way toward shifting both the mood and the mechanics of the system to something that's easier to work with and more smugglerish in feel.

I think that's my position exactly... although I might add in there also make lower level stuff drop a little more, um, well i've been using the word reliably. I want to know that if I spend a couple hours looting I can wind up with em.. be it mob specific or random but higher drop rate, i don't care.. I just need to be confident that I CAN find them (eventually) when i need em.

I'm kinda indifferent about the whole thing. I am all for keeping the really good slices rare, so I'll wait and see how it goes.
Actually, I think the high-level components are dropping too fast. They need to slow it down a bit. And they also need to seriously increse the low-level drops.

Please feel free to transfer those awful high level components that are dropping much much too fast over to me so that I can properly dispose of them ![]()

Go grab a couple of buddies and hit some krayts. You'll have some high-end stuff pretty quick. I got 3 off of the first 3 juvie krayts I killed.
You guys have to remember that the best slices are supposed to be rare. Rare doesn't mean youshould be able toget a lot of them even killing the big bad mobs, it means that you should have to kill them all night just to get a couple of components. If not, they'd be common.
