Thread: Writings Been on the Wall
One of the things that has really concerned me lately is....
Now that we've hit the release of Revenge of the Sith being released to DVD, what more is there for LA/SOE to market alongside to pull new players?
Do you really think that with just 500K subscribers they are seriously going to do another big ad campaign like they did when RotS was released to theatres? (I still am befuddled at the fact that LA didn't have the foresight to put an ad for SWG as a trailer for RotS in theatres, much as EQ2 had on the front of LotR - can't remember which one that was Return of the King?)
I think that with ToOW they were *hoping* that the nerf to movement modifiers or "balance/fix" as they called it wouldn't make much of an impact, but I see so many jedi saying they are leaving.... Not that I honestly care, I'm so sick of seeing jedi in game it's not even funny anymore, I purposely avoid Theed like the plauge now.
I'd love to stay positive here and be all rosy and say that the smuggler revamp is on it's way, and that it's gonna be great, and that the devs will come through for us. I'd love to say that this game has years left in it, but I just don't see it happening now. I fear our subscriber numbers are going to continue to fall over time, even with the release of new expansions.
When new expansions are released in the future now, with nothing to market them alongside, they are going to have to put the new expansions out in box form on the shelves in software retail outlets, which may mean a "box sale" which they will like, but it also means more production costs.
With review sites like Yahoo slanting SWG now fully writing downright mean reviews, I think anyone like me who researches a title before buying it will likely skip this title now.
And when kids convince their parents to buy it, and finally get in game after a massive update download, then find out that they've got a minimum 18 week wait until they can get jedi (cause let's face it, most people who seem to come into game now, underage minor or not, want jedi) their subscription isn't going to last much further than the first month free trial, cause hey... how long does it take to find a hooded cloak on the bazaar? ![]()
Death knell? maybe not just yet. In it's last throes? Looking that way to me.

On the bright side, we won't have to go through GreenMarine leaving the SWG dev team again... er. I'm just going to stand in the corner and try not to swallow my tongue.
ya for raondom simpsons quotes either that or what ever the sipmsons where parodying either way Wes is awsome

You people, the correct answer to this is:
"Go Crazy?"
and Wes, is the news more of the same, or surprisingly different in a bad way?

I'm afraid has way passed that point of 'being'; I'd say he's working on perfecting it now

It's a parody of a parody of The Shining... or as old Willy would say, "Shh! D'ya wanna get sued? Now look boy, if your dad goes gaga, you just use that 'shin' of yours to call me and I'll come a-running. But don't be reading my mind between four and five. That's Willy's time!"
Don't mind if I do!

Blimey
i think someone slipped the other day, and said that the revamp...errr mini-publish will be 26.
"Imagine this, crime has broken rampant lately, the streets of coronet are flooded with the seedy lowlifes only the star wars universe can provide.
Jabba the Hutt is looking for a few smugglers, daring enough to take on possibly the most demonic, cleverest, and most of all, biggest threat to his empire, Prince Xizor of the Black Sun.
Smugglers will get a story driven quest that will tear them between helping the person who made Han Solo infamous, or helping the most powerful crime lord in the galaxy.
In addition, smugglers will be able to take missions that will result in conflicts with either side or various smaller organizations, based on what routes they are required to take.
Running from bounty hunters, protecting cargo from imperial inspections. Avoiding lost shipments do to spies. All coming your way in Publish 26: The Smuggler Wars."
