Hello,

The moderators receive reports from players who think threads/posts are inappropriate for our forums and hit the report to moderator button. It is then the moderators job to review the thread and posts within it to see if it is within our guidelines. If the post is not within the guidelines it is removed. If the main post is within the guidelines however there are posts afterwards that aren't they will be removed.

When a post is removed all posts replying to it are also removed. This is where our players should be careful with what they are replying to.

I have not seen your post however I will ask the moderators tomorrow what happened.

Wrong. I'd bet half the time, the moderators don't even read the threads.

I find this statement hard to believe. This means we either have a bunch of stealth reporters, people who are reporting without saying anything, or the mods actually do delete things that aren't necessarily reported.

Considering the penchant for certain types of posts getting deleted in this forum, especially the ones that are critical of the devs without flaming, then I take this as a bold faced lie. Well maybe not a lie, but definitely a half truth.

We know they delete without a report Tiggs. So just come clean about it.

We have around 150 forums that four moderators attend to (2 during the day and 2 at night). They very rarely have the time to go looking for posts with the amount of post reports they receive.

Then they shouldn't be deleting posts, should they? A post shouldn't be deleted, unless it's read and found to be truely "bad". C'mon, you're the community relations person, it only makes sense.

I think it is sad someone reported that thread and that it was deleted. The thread was an admirable attempt to make things better by lowering the temperature here. I'd hate to think that is something SOE considers inappropriate.

I personally report 2-3 posts a day. They are posts that violate the SoE forum rules. My home server forum has less flaming/trolling posts, and actually contains post that are directly game related. I take my participation on these forums as a priveledge and do my share to maintain quality communications between player and company. Because that's when the company is more likely to listen to what I have to say.

Tiggs all of this could be solved easily --- RESPOND TO THE COMMUNITY ---

There was no outcry for the CU or Publish 24 ( AKA: the birth of the one hit incap ).

All we wanted was the bugs that were already there to be fixed, but no... we get yet another publish full of bugs and un-balanced "improvements" to a game already riddled with bugs.

Just fix the bugs that are already here, don't force feed us more garbage. You know the old saying, garbage in, garbage out.

The community is outraged by this new publish and it's not something that "just happened" -- it's been festering for a while now, and it's now driving more and more people away from a game they used to love.

Do us all a favor and start being pro-active with the community in which you are PAID to relate to.

Unless your an employee of SOE -- your opinion does not count !

Thanks John S. for the lies...
Thanks DEV team for the promises so unkept...

Ok normally I don't get involved in Forum politics, nor do I like to feed the trolls, I have NOT seen the thread in question, however I AM prompted to ask this question:

You have "moderators" of these forums that arbitrarily delete posts because of "reports" from normal users, in most cases without ever reading the post in question?

SO let's say there is this guy "Mike" last night he beat me in pvp, I am still quite sore about this, today "Mike" post in the Chef forum about Tatooine Berry Fruit Spawn rates. I hate "Mikes" guts for beating me, so I decided to get my revenge, I report his post to the moderator, in my report I claim that Mike is being subversive, using foul language and has a general overall Anti-Dev sentiment. So the moderator is thinking "oh great only 40 more of these and I can go to bed" so He sees mine, and deletes "Mikes" post without ever reading it. Since this was effective, EVERYTIME "Mike" posts something, regardless of the topic, I report it and it gets deleted, caught in the massive heap of other posts the mod has to delete?

That is not good business, and I am not a big complainer (less than 30 posts in over 2 years, and most of those are beta posts), I am just curious as to this business practice.

What it sounds like is you need more moderators for these forums, I of course volunteer my services, as for having been in the game every day for 2 years and not quitting and logging thousands of minutes on the forums (as a reader, not a poster). I would be happy to donate some of my free time to actually READ disputed posts and act accordingly, not delete posts because the more posts I delete the more work it looks like I am doing. You know my email, look me up if you want some real help.

I believe her. I stealth report posts all the time and I'm sure there are hundreds of other users out there like me.

In fact, I have it in my imagination that when Garva et al. see reports from certain people who they have come to trust because that person's reports seem to always be dead-on, they're more apt to go with what that reporter has requested and just delete a reported post due to that level of trust. I could be wrong, but that's what I imagine.

Tiggs didn't say they delete post without reading them first, she said that the mods are busy enough without having to search for posts themselves. Players report posts, the mods read them and then decide wether to delete the post or not. I've reported many posts which never got deleted. Try not to read extra into what she said jump to conclusions based on what think happens, it makes it look like you're fabricating facts in order to further your own ajenda.

Here I go against my policy of "not feeding the trolls" but, if you will notice as I said, I don't normally get involved in forum politics, I am usually too busy actually playing the game as opposed to picking on Devs or trolling other people posts..... I did not Jump to any conclusions, if you read through the post again I ASKED A QUESTION, it was me asking for a clarification of her comments not me saying "I know this is what's happening, tell me the truth" Nor did I fabricate any facts, again I did not make a statement, I asked a question.

Lastly, furthering my own agenda, I actually could care less if I was a forum moderator, or a corospondant or any other "official" with SWG, again in my OPINION if it would help solve the problem of post being deleted by an over worked moderator that doesn't have the time to read it, then I would volunteer to do so, as I spend quit a bit of time READING the forums, not trolling them.

Did I read too much into it? Possibly, and if I did I apologize to Tiggs and to the Devs and Moderators who do the work on these forums... However I will NOT apologize for asking a legitimate question, and for having an opinion, last time I checked, that is why we were all here. I am sorry you got the wrong impression of my post (jumping to conclusions?) It's not my intention to malign anyone or push for a job here, it IS my intention to understand what goes on in here.

Nope I have never myself reported a post, after reading thousands of them, I just never found it that important, I come here to get updated on things, check for stuff I need to know, read a funny post or 2 then leave again. I have read a few bad flames in my day, even had 1 or 2 against me, but that is just someones opinion (right or wrong, even if colorful words are used), I am not after censoring someone just cause I don't see eye to eye with them.

Good morning!

I have to say, I am quite impressed. I had assumed that this thread would go unnoticed except for a few post from our regular Smugglers, but the minute Tiggs graced it with a reply (thanks btw), her whole fan club turned up as well.

Thank you, matey. This is exactly what got me started. I wish I had remained more level headed in my choice of words, but this one really got under my skin. I am not claiming that my thread was an invaluable contribution to the Smuggler community at all. Last time I checked, only 2 of the 3 people addressed did realy bother to acknowledge it anyway, which is of course perfectly legitimate.

Oh well, I wonder if I´ll ever get to see an explanation, considering that my account runs out today and I am not inclined to prolong it.
